Okita's Profile

Has anyone solved the puzzle on Okita's profile?
I am not sure if it is part of the game or just Okita having fun.
Either way I have been working on it for the heck of it and I am stuck.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The first part is a Cryptoquote type puzzle I have solved

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The second part is where I am stuck I asume the underlined words are a clue or, of course they are there to throw me off.

difficult aces shuffling solitaire

I checked out Okita's profile, but I don't think it's an in-game type of puzzle. I've gotten as far as you did. What I did discover was:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There's a shuffling code called SOLITAIRE, which is a fairly sophisticated way of random encryption meant especially for people to send secret messages in a totalitarian government. The idea is, you use playing cards (an item that wouldn't normally be questioned when caught by police) to encode your message. There's a whole involved shuffling thing required, and you can find out more about the code here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solitaire_%28cipher%29

So yeah, I think I figured out what the code is based on but I suck at trying to figure out how to apply the method.

MERNT KIQQIW FEHBY EFFFK PSTYQ ROHRX <---The "X" at the end is just filler to get the proper five letter spacing in the cipher.

Those are slightly different results that I got:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You should still have enough to make several groups of 5 characters, but then again- when I did the decode I used the actual letters there and not their translations in the easy replacer code.

I could never figure out the keystream code too, I tried shuffling using the number four, since there were four words underlined. Nothing. I just suck at trying to shuffle the deck correctly.

It might be possible to comb over the original message to look for additional clues, but I think the words you already pointed out might be the main key.

Take Care,
Kendra_W
