[META] New players have questions?
Ask here

I know that the Chapter 1 players will have questions from the prologue. Feel free to ask them here. We will answer you.

META, in the case of this thread, means that it is an overall topic that deals with the entire game.

There's always time! come on down and join the sentries! god knows we could use ya. Smile

PS - as far as plotline goes, we've got Halo-3 beat, hands-down.

but the headshots are a little less satisfying.

At least Book 1 didn't end with a giant plant cliffhanger.

It's just the wait for Book 2 that's the cliffhanger.

I tried to join in during June, which I understand was a pretty terrible time to do so. But I didn't have a problem with the lack of new content, really. What I couldn't get was what we were trying to do. Sure, there were the BA phone messages and ensuing CL posts, and the BOIL and various other things, but all the parts felt disconnected, and that left me feeling rather directionless. Even after reading a number of summaries and discussions, I'm still not sure what BA's dreams had to do with Sentry Outpost, if anything.

Is that kind of vagueness typical, or was it a symptom of my coming in halfway through (when everyone should already know what's going on)?

Either way, are there any unresolved plot lines/unanswered questions that new players should be aware of for Book 2?

The packages we got sent us to Sentry Outpost and BA.

BA's dreams weren't interpreted correctly by us - but by the end it became clear that she was seeing things that happened to members of the Outpost or other things for us to do.

I think the vagueness was in large part because we didn't understand what she was doing, but also, she was a screwed up person.

The unresolved questions for me:

how was Lucky 5 used to pass messages?

who were the Chorazos group?

why was SO targeted?

actually, I have a number of questions that I had from the beginning. I think that book 1 was to build an audience and set up a background, I think it went on much longer than it was intended to, so we were left with a bunch of questions that we have had since the beginning.

I don't think SO was targetted at first. I think that after SO was alerted to the BA posts, and they started investigating it, they became a target of opportunity.

Also a theory about why SO was targetted, told in the form of rhetorical question. "Would you target a firm dedicated to squashing internet security threats, with much talent behind them if you were trying to build a virus so powerful it could virtually shut the internet down."

WOOHOO I BEAT THE INTERNET!!! the last boss wasnt that hard though Wink

Thanks, Rose!

Also, as I read through the new materials, I found myself asking "Howard? Who's Howard? Was that HPHack? Or someone I've never heard of before?"

Is there any chance of getting the Dramatis Personae added to the Quick Reference Thread? I remember that when I tried to join in last time, the biggest hurdle was trying to figure out who was in game, and who wasn't. A concrete list would definitely help new folk.

Well in this you're lucky - most everybodies dead or disappeared or crazy. Of the six or so character's we started out with, we're now down to:
HPHack - Howard Philips, who is alive and well, although severally bereaved
Sentries who may become plot important but who probably won't be posting any time soon include:
Y2KVeteran - Arthur Lydney, who snuck of to places unknown, for reasons unknown, to do things unknown.
TheMagician - Bryce Doher, who suffered a mental breakdown which there hasn't been any sign of him recovering anytime soon.
MKaos - Marie Kim, who just disappeared from her San Fran apartment. Gone. No sign of her. We're all pretty worried about what happened to her.
Everybody else died. Sad There's some information about who's who on the Our Founders page, but the people pages need to be padded out a bit.
