haaa...all of my friends are like AWESOME...uh...i sleep 2 hours a night without an ARG. but i have been thinking about doing something on campus here...any ideas?

I've begun work on a stencil for either making tshirts or painting on whatever. Though you could use to paint a desk or your neighbor's cat, you could also use it with a paint roller and a paste created with sidewalk chalk and water to paint it around college campuses and local hangouts. Since chalk is not permanent most places don't care but so much, and I've used this technique myself numerous times for promoting bands, dj's, and shows. However, if you're not feeling proactive, make a nifty shirt.

Anyone want to collaborate? I have several ideas sketched out already and I think I'll begin initial designs tomorrow afternoon.

Attempt #1: The Queen of Hearts v1

I recommend printing any stencil I upload on photo paper or card stock, and I also highly suggest covering these with self-lamination plastic. Not only will this make the stencil more durable, but it will also keep detail from bleeding away in under-spray and absorption of paint. Cut out the black after laminating using a razor blade or exacto knife and make sure ALL white parts connect somehow.

To make a shirt, gently apply fabric paint with your fingers (I recommend Tulip brand "Slick" fabric paint), only applying a little at a time for this first layer. If you apply too much, the paint will seep under the edges of the stencil and the shirt will be ruined, and don't be surprised if it seeps at least a little bit here and there your first few times. Keep applying more paint after each layer dries until the desired color is opaque. When removing the stencil, you may want to use the blade again to cut away paint clinging to the stencil. Be careful and be patient.

To use with spray paint or chalk, it's best to use spray-on stencil adhesive so you can get clean edges. Even pro graffiti artists have troubles with clean edges sometimes. Spray paint is self-explanatory besides that tip. To use chalk, grind up whatever color you plan to be using and add water until it's just liquidy enough to work with on a small paint roller. Most campuses and businesses don't really care if you're using chalk once they realize you are, but you still may want to watch your back.

Remember, don't vandalize!

genius! i don't think i have time this weekend, but sometime late next week i think i'm going to go print these out big and hit the chalk circuit here in ann arbor...

An issue I've seen with stencils is that people often mistake them for graffiti. I've started leaving mailing labels nearby in conspicuous places with "silverladder.com / thekorporation.net / forums.unfiction.com/forums/index.php?f=229" written on them to make people understand the difference.

EDIT: Also, I'd really like to hear how you guys have been doing with recruiting. Updates, anyone?

I don't know about the rest of the group... But I've put off recruiting until I'm sure there's still a game.

I have quite a few like-minded people that would love to play SL, or any of the ARG's... if they had the opportunity (and sometimes the understanding) of the games.

I will try harder to recruit my friends... But it's looking pretty shallow on my tries.
