If they want this to be an ARG, they'll have to sell Slusho! at stores. What better way could there be to make the game/movie feel like real life? Also, from an ARG perspective, boxes of Slusho! mix could contain clues to the movie. This seems to be more and more turning back into an ARG, with one thing leading to another to another. This real world connection will definitely aid it's ARG status.


This was said in the "Japanese Chef Picture" thread, but I'll say it here as it was brought up, concerning the monster's origins being tyed to the company somehow. In my opinion, the whole "overdrilling awakens monster" storyline makes sense. Deep sea monster gets awakened from mining. It decides to go for a stroll, and destroys a city in the process. It happens when you're a 500 foot tall monster! It's like if you were to wake up, walk around, and then walk into the Legos your kid had set up. Maybe the monster kicked the Statue of Liberty by accident, hitting off its head. Accidents happen.

The closest driling locations to the Bloop are in Indonesia and the South Atlantic. Either (1) they never drilled there and continue not to, just because, or (2) they had drilled there, and the "scandal" in the 80s was due to something happening there. Look at the map. They have drilling sites all over the world, even in the Artic. But none in the Pacific, specifically the South Pacific near the Bloop. If you were an enterprising company, you'd try to find all the resources needed near you, as in drill in the South Pacific rather than in the mid-Atlantic if you were based in Japan. Makes sense, right? Unless you found something in the South Pacific. Now, if the first paragraph and 2 turns out to be right, where's the Bloop monster? My theory: mid-Atlantic monster wakes up, destorys a city by accident. We think he's bad, but he's really good as we learn when the Bloop monster comes in the SEQUEL. JJ wants an American monster. He'll need to make more than one movie and not have the monster seem like the bad guy in the sequels, like Godzilla.

Just looked at the source codes for the Tagruato Corp. site... found this:

Also, if you look at the timeline of things... Ganu took over in 1989. Before that, the company was floundering (no pun intended). Then, the Jimmu station finds the secret ingredient in 1991. In 1992, 3 more platforms start up, each one is coastal regions (Annei, Itoku, and Kosho). Then, in 1994, five platforms open on the same day - Feb 25.

It's not until 2007 that the platform opens in the N. Atlantic, which is presumably what sets off our monster and the attack on NYC.

So, the most plausible, non-fantastic story would be: Tagruato Corp. found their deep sea *whatever* and started plundering the oceans of the world in search of more of it, and finally, w/platform 14, they disturbed something big and, well.. peevish.

Makes sense to me. Either that, or the monster is a genetic hybrid of Noriko and a whale, and if you drink seven Slusho's, you'll also turn into a big whale-thing, or at least, a parasitic crab-thing...

One or t'other. Whatever floats your boat.
