Just looked at the source codes for the Tagruato Corp. site... found this:

... the whale 'theme' strikes again (on Slusho and here).. or itīs perhaps a coincidence...

Interesting... looked like a dolphin to me before you mentioned that.

Pacific Oil Conference

http://www.petroshow.com/index.html

the above is a link to the Pacific Oil Conference.. which is referenced on the tagruato site, I haven't had a chance to scour the site for IG v OOG, but it does take place on the same dates as the tagruato site suggests.. but it would be simple for them to simply reference a real conference

Oh, fair enough. Laughing

There's no mention in the Pacific Oil link about "Tagruato Corp" - which makes me think it's OOG, and they're just referencing it for the sake of authenticity.

We think he's bad, but he's really good as we learn when the Bloop monster comes in the SEQUEL. JJ wants an American monster. He'll need to make more than one movie and not have the monster seem like the bad guy in the sequels, like Godzilla.

thats what I thought was stupid(no offence)

Yeah - I don't think they're going to make this into a regular monster-movie series, anything like Godzilla. And, Bloop (for lack of a better name) sure as hell ain't gonna do battle with other monsters. That just doesn't fit with the realism 'twist' of this movie.

Agreed. The site also has logos of many real world companies, which is something I don't think this particular ARG would do (technically infringing on other people's copyrights / trademarks).

The origin of Tagruato goes back into 1945, when our creator, Kantaro Tagruato, founded a mining company in Kyūshū, Japan's southernmost island. Tagruato, who had emigrated to Japan from Polynesia with his family as young boy, started the company with dreams of "holding Earth's energy in my fist." He called his fledgling company 力の手.

The name of the original company translates to "The hand of power"

I think it's interesting this turn of events involving drilling for resources, especially in relation to the idea of the writers creating a monster that people in the USA could appreciate.

I mean, between the hot topic of global warming (tampering with our environment), oil (greed and corruption), and contaminated food (slusho?), if the Bloop was a creature awakened/created in relation to such topics, well, it'd just be a great modernization of the classic humanity-reflected-in-monster theme. Twisted Evil

"Ta - Gu - Ru - A - To"

It's written in Katakana, a subset of the language that's used to transcribe foreign words.

You actually can't have the word "Tagruato" in Japanese, the closest is, indeed, "Taguruato". Either way, it's definitely not a Japanese word/name.

Interestingly enough, English is the ONLY language that works on the site (even japanese is a broken link, hah!)

I thought of that as funny too, the kind of irony you get from having an American try and make a website that looks like its from Japan.

I'm actually impressed that they have a reason for it not being a Japanese name: the company's founder was [from] Polynesia.
