Rob will probably work for them

Under "Rob Hawkins's Details" on Rob's myspace, his occupation is in Marketing. The fact that the Tagruato site specifically mentions needing marketing for the Western market is a pretty big clue.

Another clue that Rob will probably work for Tagruato is the article "Testaments of happiness and gratitude from Tagruato's finest" from the Tagruato website, which is all about how good it is to work for the company. If someone was going to uproot their life and move to Japan, it'd have to be an amazing job.

From the article:
Quote:
The study found that Tagruato was in the top ninety-fifth percentile for wages, health benefits, and overall employee morale. They also received high grades for their retirement savings plans and investment opportunities. Workers cited their pride in the Tagruato Cares foundation and their card allowing for half-off Slusho! at any participating vendors as some of their most favorable factors.

Many posts back, there was mention of a "scandal" in the 80's for Targuato Corp. It must have been mentioned on the company website somewhere, but I can't find it - anyone remember where the 'scandal' is mentioned? And, I mean, where is it mentioned on the Targuato Corp. website, not this forum (i.c.weiner mentioned in back on p.2 or 3 of this thread)? Thanks.

Hard Times

The golden age could not last. The 1980s brought decline, scandal, and great losses to Tagruato's dream. Mining, still 力の手's main function, was a rapidly declining industry in the '80s. Domestically, it became more financially viable to import coal. Demand for zinc and lead decreased. In response, 力の手 was forced to cut jobs and salaries.

Throughout the decade, the company was falsely accused of various malfeasances, none of which were anchored in truth. Though Tagruato himself was becoming elderly, he still was running the corporation, and blame was placed upon his hobbled shoulder. When the defamations became public, Tagruato -- ashamed by his company's soiled reputation -- laid upon his sword. 力の手 went bankrupt. The dream, it appeared, was over.

Under the Company History section.

Here's an excerpt from the former article fitofjoy is referring to I think...this is a link that gives a lotta pull to Rob getting a job for Tagruato Corp.. Now that the Ganu's site is out in the open we may see something on Rob's myspace giving even more evidence supporting this theory...

Many thanks, Siffblu, for pointing me to the 'scandal' reference.

After reading through that history again, and some other news pieces, here are some quick thoughts:

1. People were wondering about the ParafFun - why are they making that?
I think it's a hold-over from the old Targuato Corp., before Ganu took over:
Quote:

In mid 1970s, 力の手 staked a claim in the rapidly expanding petrochemical industry, producing plastics, polystyrene, and polypropylene

2. Under Investor News, in a 7/2/07 piece entitled "Investor Conference Held in Tokyo" it's reported that 12 of the 14 ships in their fleet will be upgraded with double-hulls - the extra hill "functions as an additional shell that distances the oil storage compartments from the dangers of the sea by a few feet, should the tanker run aground or strike a reef or iceberg." Do you suppose their ships have been damaged by something out near one or more of the platforms? Or, is this just routine?

3. "You can't drink just six" might just be a reference to the fact that there are "six combinable 'happy drink' flavors" and the "Make Your Own Slusho! kit already on market shelves." If there's a make-your-own "kit" then there's no standard flavor of Slusho! A make-your-own kit is pretty unusual for a drink, so that would be what people associated with Slusho! So, it would explain their odd slogan/motto.

akemi takahashi

i'm sure some of you have seen this already.. but a simple googling of the name akemi takahashi (the wife that dr. takahashi references) points mostly to an apparently famous female bodybuilder of that name..

this detail is obviously oog.. but i think it's sort of funny and perhaps an intentional joke on their part

Wouldn't be the first joke like that. At the Pacific Oil Conf., Ganu was supposedly "honored with the Khodorkovsky Award for innovation." A search for that name turns up this:

The Slusho! Powered lions...

I hit the ball far! <- sounds like stupid.

Company sponsored team destroys the competition

Destorys. sounds frightening.

Also, anyone look up the team they were going against? Nishio Dragons? Doing so now.

It seems, Daisuke Nishio made some dragon ball Z.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Cough. sorry.

JJ's having a bit too much fun with his names.

would finally seem to legitimize the speculation that Rob may be going to work for Slusho.

What we really need now is a genuine marketing person with an existing resume to apply to the address in the Contact Us section. I would hope if they respond it'd be something along the lines of "this is just a promotion for a movie, sorry to inconvenience you".

Tagruato's crew of Slusho! Smilers! arrived at the Ibaraki Nursing Home in Mito yesterday with a special surprise for the feeble elders on Floor 3 - Slusho! brand happy drink! The lovely ladies handed out seven drinks to each senior in any flavor they could imagine.

"This Mikan-Strawberry Tasty makes me feel young again!" exclaimed 98-year-old Hiro Chinen.

Another aged lady asked to have a Nashi-Banana Anime hooked into her IV.

As the patients sucked their drinks down, the Slusho! Smilers! sang and danced to the Slusho! Song! Those who were able clapped along.

Nobody can drink just six!!...and this company sees to that apparently. Wink

They made sure even the feeble folks of the Ibaraki Nursing Home in Mito each got more than six Slusho!'s.

What's the motivation?? Confused

Combine that w/ the reference of the effects of kaitei no mitsu (Seabed's Nectar0 that Vernon MacDooble experienced @ Garbanzos and there may be some type of theory forming...

Going back to the whole "You can't drink just six" phrase...

The fact that the company made sure they drank more than six.

"They made sure even the feeble folks of the Ibaraki Nursing Home in Mito each got more than six Slusho!'s."

Does make it sound like there is something possibly 'dangerous' to it. For example, certain drugs (medicinal) have a minimum dosage. So possibly drinking six or less may damage the body. Or (as there are six flavors) perhaps having all 6 flavors at equal proportions creates something deadly, so you have to have a 7th one to make an imbalance. Of course this is a bit of a stretch, but it does sound like you 'have' to drink more than six.

This is a cool find, although I still think it's marketing vs. ARG, and I lean toward marketing.

What's even funnier is that most of you are acting like this is your first time having angry nerd sex. Calm down, people!
