Oh, and Halo Wars might give some answers.

Nope, Halo Wars takes place before the events of Halo.

So? It's not as if we don't see Forerunner ruins - for heaven's sake in the Halo Wars trailer the recon patrol survivors are running out of a Forerunner complex. At least I think it's a Forerunner complex.

It's entirely probable that most information about the Forerunner will be revealed.

Well, if Halo Wars takes place before the events of the Halo series, then it would be even better to explain the Forerunner's past and the construction of the Halos.

Not that far back. I'll bet it's probably around 2540, or sometime before it. It must be before the MJOLNIR Mark V was made, as the Spartans in the trailer are seen in Mark IV Armor.

According to this its set 20 years before Halo 1, so that would be about 2532, which is a year after Vice Admiral Cole fights the Covenant at Harvest.

Too short.

Heh, I was close.

Now that I think about it, the war was very short considering the amount of destruction it caused, and the many separate layers of conflict that went on. I mean, it only really lasted 23 years, and in that time humanity lost untold billions.

Could it? I think it is!

IT MUST BE A GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY!
The guy in the subway (who smelled of wee)was right!

Edit:

Oh, you mean the same planet as the one in the Legendary ending...
I thought that you were referring to the slides in the picture showing the same planet.

IT'S STILL A GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY!

Hehe. Yeah, I was rewatching the Perceiving the Dimensions of Iris videos and figured this was one piece of the puzzle that didn't seem to be explained. Infestation.jpg so if this is true could it be that Chief is drifting toward the flood homeworld?

Good to know I'm not the only one still here...

No, I don't think that it is the Flood's homeworld seeing as the Forerunners don't know where they originated(as seen in the Legendary Edition's bestiarium, where they state the planet where they first made contact and that they believe that the Flood originated outside of the Milky Way).
