Potential references to "Lost City" by Clive Cussler?
Deep sea ingredient..reverses aging...

I happened to be reading through a few Clive Cussler books this weekend, and just finished Lost City today.

Spoilers discussing the book's plot:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A corporation is harvesting an enzyme from deep seaweed which they refine into an elixir which reverses aging. The early (failed) versions of this elixir turned the human test subjects into savages with glowing red eyes and extended life spans.

Definitely sounds similar to a certain frozen drink we all know and love. And that last bit would certainly fit in with the whole idea that Slusho somehow creates the monster.[/spoiler]
