That's not right, is it? The Rabbit Hole is the site in Saudi Arabia, not Saul's team.

I was confused about that too, but I didn't want to change anything, I just wanted it to sound better. So, whoever wrote that, which is it?

My name is Saul Hernandez. My codename, anyway. I work for the NCS.

What is going to happen on 11-26-07?

The date, codenamed Red Monday, will be the starting point for an Internet-based game with the same name. This genre of entertainment, called ARG (Alternative Reality Gaming), relies heavily on character-player interaction, which includes making phone calls to real landlines, e-mailing, visiting websites, solving riddles proposed by characters, and even meeting them in live events.

But Red Monday isn't just any game. It's not the kind of game you'd have your 9-year-old nephew play.

Red Monday involves real people, some of them highly suspected by intelligence organizations all over the world for various illicit activities, like Abdul Qadeer Khan. News from the real world also affects the game's universe, such as President Musharraf's decision to establish martial law in Pakistan, which has become an important factor in-game. In fact, Red Monday even uses supposed "phone logs" from an intelligence operative known as Echelon.

As you might have deduced from the previous paragraph, this game focuses on the fragile political and military balance in Middle East. But it doesn't stop there. China is suspected of being involved in the event too, which is supported by information found on a Chinese Embassy server. The Asiatic giant has provided help to Afghanistan and several other countries in the region in various ways, help which may lead to an armed conflict. Given China's goal of becoming an important military power, this is not far from plausibility.

Based on information retrieved from a Saudi Embassy network, hosted in the US, we are coming to conclusions. Conclusions that some people do not want us to come to. And they're planning to keep everyone in the dark until it happens.

Not to mention the story seems to involve me. I am a major operative of the NCS, working undercover with my own team. This is fairly precise information, especially concerning me.

This is the synopsis of the story so far. Red Monday is completely in-depth and immerses you into the storyline with real life e-mails, instant messaging, phone logs, real locations, etc. The scary thing is that it feels as if every new development is real...

...but then again, this is just a game.

Yeah, I thought the same about the Rabbit Hole comment, but since no one said anyithing, I thought I had missed something. Any comments on this version? 'Cause I think it's better not to include the Rabbit hole thing.

EDIT: I'm on skype with JC. Says he's read one of the drafts.

Quote:

[23:00:00] JC says: I just skimmed one of the drafts of the leak... I haven't read it too closely, but.. one thing to note
[23:00:49] JC says: This ends on 11/26... not begins. I have a feeling that if we dont stop the Event before than, there isn't going to be anything more that we can do...

So, there ya go. It's possible that the game ENDS on Monday 26. Maybe he's just doing that to hurry us. Or perhaps he's intending to end the game that day. I wish it doesn't end on the 26. That would suck... I thought we were just playing the pre-game, like it was said on the first pages of this thread, since there was no official beginning for the game. Anyways, JC says that perhaps he'll have more once he reads it carefully.

The Symbol... once more

I got the book, The Writing of Arabic Numerals today.

Found the symbol on page 192. It looks exactly like the picture I posted a few pages back about someone wanting to use the symbol as a punctuation mark.

Other than what we already know, there really is nothing more about it.

Quote:
This numeral from a Papal Chancery hand of the 15th century may be plausibly interpreted as 0, 3, 6, 7, or 8 as indicated. The uncertainty turns upon a doubt as to which parts of the figure are to be regarded as ornamental additions, and which as parts of its essential form.

It's kind of funny, because the symbol we are dealing with is actually a stylization of this one.

Something that strikes me as odd about this symbol: perhaps the PM doesn't realize it, but "arabic numerals" does not necessarily denote numerals in the arabic hand; our number system is made of arabic numerals (as opposed to roman numerals). This "symbol" is just a copy of one drawn by some cleric in the Vatican writing manuscripts and official documents. It doesn't inherently mean "ambiguity," rather it is supposed to stand for one of those numbers; it's just stylized beyond the point of recognition. Its only connections to anything "arab" is in its origin as an "arabic" numeral.

He has always been saying that. Red Monday is the day of the event not the day the event starts.

The Drop is here:

Quote:
Alright, there's not much time to make this info drop, so I'll just get to the point...
2 new files decrypted:
http://www.red-monday.com/files/xrl.jpg
http://www.red-monday.com/files/citylist.gif
One of them is a map of the United States with certain cities highlighted.... and the other is what appears to be a list of those locations.
I do not like this. At all.
Given the context of all the other information we've gathered... it doesn't leave a lot of room for doubt:
Middle East.
Nuclear espionage.
A major "Event."
Large cities in the United States.
Ever heard of the TV show "Jericho"? Ugh.
In any event... what I find most curious is the color bars on the citylist.gif file... it's obviously some sort of code..... it might even be a ranking system for priority targets. Anyone have any idea what it might mean? It could be important...
Black Knights.... this is all the more reason to do the leak. If this doesn't get Saul's attention, I don't know what will.

"xrl," the name of the map file, is ROT13 for "key." There appears to be writing at the bottom int he black... checking it out now.

EDIT:

It appears to be binary. some of it is hard to decipher... but it could work. I started typing out some, and the translation is gibberish. possibly a code within a code.

List of cities
Order

Does anyone know if DC is still the nations capital for President Kerry? Were the cities listed in any kind of order of importance?
Did the Frapper Map mean anything special? Was it just a map of cities most likely to be part of the "event" or something else? I know my city's one of them flagged, anyone else?

It does have a key the key is H or Rot 8.

The first three should give you "Red."

I can't see it well enough to make out all the binary, but hopefully this will help.

Edit: my big dumb mistake it was Rot 13 - see second post below.

jaecy = JC?

It's definitely not a Frapper Map; its a Google Map, based on the red upsidedown teardrop marker.

Why would the capitol be different? Just because it's a different president?

At least Cleveland isn't marked. Then again, this could all just be a plot to flood the US with tourists.

It's 3am. Goodnight.
