[SPEC] Deep Sea Ingredient "spill" + Sea Life = Monster(s)

Short and sweet.

Slusho has been referenced many times IG as giving people more strength and spirit, correct?

Between the Slusho site and Tagruato we know that the ingredient in Slusho is found on the sea floor, or maybe even below the ocean floor.

The Tagruato site has mentioned rigs everywhere (not necessarily just oil... do they even specify specifically that they are oil?), with one being built relatively near NYC.

We can surmise that they are drilling / farming the ingredient needed for Slusho, correct?

The Tagruato site also mentions them upgrading their ships to be double hulled (thus alluding to oil spills of past).

- - -

SO, what if what happens is after drilling a lot of the deep sea ingredient, and upon transferring it away from the oil rig, a tanker hits an iceberg, or runs aground, etc. etc. and a massive amount of the deep sea ingredient (concentrated consumable power) flows into the ocean... the sea life then consumes it, and wackiness ensues. Shocked

- - -

To elaborate on what I mean by what could happen to the sea life.

I know this is far fetched, but imagine the deep sea ingredient as being some kind of viscous material that infuses with all kinds of sea life to create this huge sea monster that's literally created out of sea creatures, the water, and plant life even (that maybe as they fall off the main body go nuts and wreak havoc on whatever is nearby).

Think something along the lines of Spirited Away or Princes Mononoke.

Once again far fetched, but as though the sea literally comes to life, becomes sentient, realizes how humans are fucking it up (it being a collection of animals, plant life, the sea itself), and so of course it comes to land and rains havoc.

Just letting my imagine go a little wild here, but you have to admit, it'd be massively chaotic, crazy, and fun, while at the same time riding along the story built thus far, and ties into the idea of a monster that the US public could appreciate (with the environment being a hot topic... i.e. the environment is pissed and ready for revenge!).

An oil spill gone wrong? Not an impossibility, but seeing J.J.'s past work, I doubt that it's going to have much truth to it.

Not oil spill. The deep sea ingredient, concentrated, and en masse.

Why do you say no based on his past work? This is my first taste of JJ.

as i put in another topic where this topic was quoted:

"aaah, so these deep sea creatures gulp down the slusho rejuvinating ingredient, mutating them because they have overdosed the six limit, making them abnormal and able to surface the ocean, evolving and seeking new prey then that of what it was used to on the ocean floor, us humans. Sounds plausable.

but, i'm guessing the special ingredient is in liquid form (how else would these deep sea creatures ingest the ingredient). If so, it would not have the density to fall back to the bottom of the ocean, unless its density was greate then that of water. (excuse my science)

seems like a good theory though"

The problem I see with this (And any other mutation-like theory) is:

1. If it alters some smaller critters then you don't get a big monster.
2. Mutating into a giant monster (like you see in movies) is just plain impossible, and from what i've seen in this ARG and of JJ's past works, I don't think he would use something so unrealistic.

The only way I can see a mutation concept working is one that works slowly over time. For example, slowly mutating a blue whale over a long period of time, making it very large.

Both Allias and Lost use strange and mysterious concepts when doing something supernatural. Like foretelling the future in allias, and the numerous things in lost. So changes are the monster be of a very strange and mysterious nature (like the monster in lost *1). The way things are looking with the ARG, I doubt if JJ would be using the basic 'mutation makes monster grow big' style.

*1
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
For those who don't know, the monster in lost is a mysterious black cloud of unknown origin. The reason I connect this with the monster in Cloverfield is that I think they will be similar; Mysterious, complex and full of unknowns.

ok then, maybe not mutation.

Maybe just makes the deep sea inhabitant get all funkay and does a jig accidently knocking off the SOL's head (joke).

if its going to be mysterious, then i wouldn't place a bet on the whale being the monster. The whale will probably be some kind of contributing factor. The creature will probably be something we wouldn't imagine, quite like the monster from Lost.

Actually I had something else in mind to the mutant-monster theory.

So far my favorite idea... way cooler than a mutant monster, or hibernating monster, or a human-turned-monster.

For cereal. Wink

The theory you suggest reminds me of another character. This being the Swamp thing

"The character is a humanoid mass of vegetable matter who fights to protect his swamp home, the environment in general, and humanity from various supernatural or terroristic threats."

"physically altered by chemicals and the forces within the swamp"

Its a very vaige similarity.

I would go with the first theory though.

Well, mutation is still a possibility, I was mainly talking about immediate mutation. Like the monster is created in a few days. I can see it being a slow thing, like over the life of the monster.[/quote]

I think the monster in Lost is "mysterious" for re-use purposes. It keeps coming back episode after episode, and nothing new is ever revealed about it.

I'm expecting some things to be slightly unclear about JJ's monster, but I'm not expecting a complete cloud of obscurity (no pun intended).

One thing that hasn't been that clear to me.....are the fireballs from the monster itself or the surrounding destruction. Any thoughts.

Maybe not a spill of slusho, but if Tagruato still ships oil in it's tankers we may have a plausible connection, early speculation on the explosion in New York had theories of a tanker, given the size and what could be flaming barrels sent into the air by the main explosion...

Guess my wild theory is, the explosion was caused by a tanker, possibly one of Tagruato's being thrown into Downtown Manhattan.

That said, I have little evidence tro support my own theory but given the recent revelation with the discovery of the Tagruato Corp. site it seemed one of the reasonable ones to add.

I'm not talking about a slusho spill either, but rather a spill of the deep sea ingredient in concentrated form (who knows, maybe it's flammable).

I've been speculating too as to whether the explosion might be from the rig (gigantic explosion, I know.. seeing how far away it is on the map), but would probably make more sense if a tanker ran aground... maybe it carried the deep sea ingredient, and oil in separate compartments, or maybe the gas needed to fuel the ship would explode with such force.

I'm going to stop speculating now. It's just way too early to believe much of anything at this point in regards to the monster based on what little evidence is available.

Definitely Tagruato related though... I'd say a 90% chance of that for sure at this point.

Ooh ooh!

New evidence to support my theory (maybe) here :
