[POLL]Do You Think That They Changed The Name Last Minute?

Due to the posters being taken down. Do you guys think they changed the name. I love the movie Cloverfield. I think they didn't and they are getting revisedp osters or something because Hot TOpic sells Cloverfield teehisrts with the poster on them. So i hope its not true. Unless they make a kickass title i like CLoverfield. ITs so unorthodox and some peopel think tis stupid i think its clever. What do you guys think.

Edited title to add poll tag. Yes, I like things tidy. - E Very Happy

Posters taken down? What are you talking about?

Given the general fact that they settled on "Cloverfield" from it being known as that through the buzz and hype, and the fact it's still on the film's site at www.clovefieldmovie.com I find it highly unlikely after producing all those posters and billboards they'd make a name change now for Cloverfield.

I think the point is that they changed the name to being officially Cloverfield instead of the other name they'd been intending to use as the final title. There is some mention of this in interviews with Matt Reeves. I think perhaps the implication is that the other 'name' might never have existed at all, and that they wanted to save face by trying to claim Cloverfield wasn't meant to be the final name. The posters thing was about the Monstrous posters, which people originally thought was going to be the title - so perhaps the change was from that to the previous working title of Cloverfield. I'm sure there may be other variations of the idea as well.

I absolutely don't believe for a second that Cloverfield was the intended title all along. Why the mystery, suspense and build if they were just going to call it what EVERYONE was calling it from Day 1, anyway?

Could there have been rights issues involved with the "Cloverfield" name that caused a need for a hold-off? Maybe, but I'm not willing to buy that: It's an odd name, after all.

It's not like I care, though: I always wanted it to be called what it's called. Smile

That latest interview with Matt Reeves has him explaining the name Cloverfield. Sounds like it was meant from the start. Although it was a misunderstanding he believes it was supposed to be something like "Cloverdale" but was misheard from the studio rep as Cloverfield. The title was suppose to sound like a mysterious operation, like "The Manhatten Project" so yeah, they intended it from the start

They're probably just changing them for posters that include the chosen tagline.

"Some Thing Has Found Us."

Now that they've hooked a mainstream audience, I don't foresee a title change helping anybody with anything.

You've got to admit -- even if they had ended up giving the movie its 'official title', most people probably would've continued to call it 'Cloverfield'. (I would've, anyway).
