Note, each site is registered under a man with the last name Kagashima, including Paraffun.com, which redirects to Cloverfieldclues.com. What does this mean? And for that matter, why is cloverfieldclues registered under the name Kagashima?
Does this mean that CloverfieldClues made the Tagruato website? Or does it mean that CloverfieldClues was just farting around?
Please, a fresh pair of eyes would be helpful.

I think the guy at Cloverfield clues quickly bought the domain name of one of the subsidiaries mentioned in the Tagruato Corp site once it was discovered and make it a redirect to his site. Smart marketing move, but nothing sinister.
Cloverfield clues is a regular poster on Unfiction, I'm sure he'll explain.

I'm referring to the fact that one of the Kagashima's is the registrant of Paraffun.com. Does that mean that CloverfieldClues is making an inside joke, or that he might have made the Tagruato website too?
I'm really confused. I hope somebody explains.

I think he's poking fun. If I'm not mistaken, the registrants for 1-18-08.com are made up names with a nod to Lost. I don't know specifics of registering a site, but it sounds like you can put in fictitious info.

Doesn't this just hinder our efforts more. I'm geting rather tired of false leads thanks to fans registering and creating false websites, especially if it's for marketing.

Paraffun Hey, check out this URL:
http://whois.domaintools.com/paraffun.com
Or have a look to the picture.
There are some Domains registered on GoDaddy... the Registrar is no evidence but it could be a clue to make out more of these "fakes".

I think the reason they (cloverfieldclues) used godaddy.com is because it's a cheap and dependable domain registrar. It's who I use for my personal sites. It doesn't matter where a company purchases their domain name through, but it would make sense for them to purchase all of them through the same company for billing/management reasons.
You can also see that the domain paraffun.com was just registered, as opposed to the other two being registered in July.

Good find McPhearson.
You're not the first to notice that the domain points to my website, but you are the first to check the whois.
I am certainly not trying to trick anyone into thinking that my blog is "in-game". If I wanted to trick people, I would have made a fake site.
The point of this experiment is to prove that you can't trust the WHOIS info, because it can be changed to whatever you want. The fact that a website's WHOIS info matches an in-game site, DOES NOT mean anything.

You are correct sir! Also, I wanted to prevent someone else from gamejacking it.

Yep. It also happens to be where the "in-game" sites are registered too. I would have also registered paraffun.jp, but that costs $99!

You'll notice that Dennis (CloverfieldClues) also registered ParaffunWax.com and used his real registrant information there.
http://whois.domaintools.com/paraffunwax.com
Should anyone think something sinister was afoot, he could have just as easily used the same spoofed registrant info there but didn't.

Hmmm, so does this mean we won't be getting a separate paraffun website? Or will it be something random like paraffunwaxisawesome.jp?? It seems odd for them to leave those obvious ones out there for potential gamejackers to use -- good thing cloverfield clues is wise enough to snatch them up first.

It sure does seem that way more and more with each passing day...
I hope this isn't true, it'll just fuel these thoughts that I had last night.

They could always use PARAFFUN.JP ... it's not taken. But like I said, it costs $99, so it out of my price range and hopefully any gamejacker too. However, they probably would have already bought these domains if they were going to use them.
Maybe they'll just expand the pages on the Tagruato site itself?

Well, if it wasn't taken, it will most certainly be now...
Another option is subdomains, which I admit I haven't checked.

You must have missed the $100 part. I'm sure getting your jollies as a gamejacker is fun (ColbyRook?), but it's probably not $100 fun.
