Dr. Awkward I'm assuming you are behind this due to hints from earlier. If you can offer an alternative please go ahead.

Okay STOP. I guaran-freaking-te you that they will figure out what happened, if not from the photobucket nonsense, then from the simple fact that they (a) have access to the internet and (b) probably are smarter than a five year old.

Let's not "notify" them in a way that ruins the experience for any players who come across the site in the meantime.

Stop poking holes in the curtain... please.

Keep in mind they would never check their mail since they talk in real life. It would be useless since no one can view it anyway.

Realized that after posting, although an email to Rob from Rob might stick out if not buried too deep in the stack or if they look at the sent mail. Slim chance.

I doubt it.

WTF? Damn... I just wrote it and now it's gone! It's one of you two, Dr. or the other guy..

I'm getting pissed.

EDIT:
Also, if Jamie's account is a lost cause, I think that is message enough.

No, they'll think Jamie's account was done with, they wont know Rob's myspace has been hacked.

WHAT I CAN SUGGEST TO THE PEOPLE WITH ACCESS TO ROB'S EMAIL IS TO SEND WHAT DIB WROTE TO THE EMAIL. IT SHOULD GET NOTICED, HOPEFULLY IN TIME.

this is the only alternative other than posting it as a blog. The makers should be notified. You said so yourself, they will find something awry, be it the fact that they added themselves on myspace or Lascano's and Hawkin's photobucket have been messed with.

They will know, it's useless to think we can ignore it. I'm simply looking for the best way to let them know immediately so no further damage is done.

Send them some sort of communication.

Would you please stop and use your brain for even a second, Kraker?
If they know Jamie's PB was hacked, it shouldn't take a leap of brilliance to think that they'll know the emails (accesible through PB) and any site with the same password were also vulnerable.

that's not what my point was. I was assuming someone had already discovered the first password by accident. In almost any other ARG it would've snowballed if the information we got access too by a mistake was also available to them.

And Doc Awk didn't expect it to be paramount, nobody did.

You don't get access 'by mistake' I bet 'paramount' wasn't even the first thing they tried, nor it would had been the last one. They were trying to get in. The fact the PMs are lousy made that possible, but in other ARGs, where you can really build a sense of community, they may not had been trying to break in.

They'll know. A ton of people are following this, not the forum, altought a lot are, but the PB. Someone will inform them things were changed. Once they know one myspace were hacked, they'll check the others. Or at least do a small search on the sites about the game, and then they'll know. No need to let everyone else (like those who follow the game but not the forums) know you hacked the myspace.

What i'm more worried about is, who is reading this thread?

If it's the same guy/girl who looks after the Myspace/Photobucket account's,
then there laughing, but if it's someone else then......well.....who knows.

True, that's what I'm saying.

Still, I support some sort of communication instead of leaving them with no message from us. It looks better to tell them there was a fault and that it was not exploited then to let them figure it out on their own with doubt on their mind about us. Without hearing from us, their opinion on how to react could swing in any way.

To conclude: I know they'll figure out, but telling them something directly seems a nicer thing to do then to leave them to read this forum and make out whatever they can.

Kraker, if nothing has been / gets altered on the accounts in question (including an OOG blog Rolling Eyes ) I'd say just leave things well enough alone.
No harm, no foul... Confused

They'll see dibs heads up on the photobucket and take care of things I'm sure...I'm not trying to play bad cop, but the world doesn't need any more heroes.

If anyone does have access, just leave things alone.

I just wish we could just get back to the game...this whole discussion is OOG as far as I'm concerned,

This is my first ARG...I don't really understand the concept completely and I was having fun.

Now it just seems bunk...

Alright, I couldn't do anything even if I wanted to, and although it's my personal opinion to leave them a message (not as a blog, if you read what I said afterwards, but as a message to them in their mail. I was simply looking for a surefire way for them to read a personal message).

I gotta go to bed, and a personal message would've been my choice, but ok, so be it.

I can't wait to see how this plays out tomorow

Oh, and these blog posts - I don't yet believe they exist or existed. I haven't seen them, and I notice they are a future date (1-18-08 of course). The pic showed no other entries despite the presence of others. I see the new friends though.

SOMEONE keeps posting blogs, because I've been subscribed to Rob's blog since day one they were found and I keep getting updated emails. But when I go there no blog is to be found...

We kinda agreed to keep that info off the blog...so all the people subscribed don't have to deal w/ this...PM's will know soon enough.

No need for an OOG blog...seems worse form than the former (if that makes any sense.)

Waiter....Reality Check, please!

A few things to keep in mind amid all the hysteria:

1) First, foremost: this is VIRAL ADVERTISING for a MOVIE, folks. *Not* the same thing as hacking into the Pentagon, or Oprah Winfrey's Master Plan for World Domination.
2) NOBODY is going to get fired at Paramount's end for lax security, fer chrissake.
3) For those of you trying to "ssssh! keep it down -- maybe they won't notice we were here" -- keep in mind that the PMs read this forum regularly...and no doubt are reading this very thread. If they don't know already, they'll know soon enough EXACTLY what was hacked, who did the hacking, when it happened....all thanks to this very thread.
4) JJ isn't going to pick up his toys and go home over a cheese-hack like this, for god's sake. Again: it's VIRAL ADVERTISING, for a MOVIE.

This ISN'T like an ordinary ARG, where "the game's the thing." In Cloverfield World, the ADVERTISING is "the thing." Bad Robot and Paramount aren't even THINKING about ditching a $30 mil project because of some meddling kids and their dumb dog Scooby. Rolling Eyes

.....Reeeeeelax, y'all.
