[META] the real horror ( promotion making the movie real?)

I think we all knew or heard it was some horror movie when we first saw the trailer. But now since weve been soooo caught up in finding clues, we think of it more as a mystery.

I think with all the clues found now- and with rumors of a marketing plan seeling REAL LIVE slushos at 7-11's people are going to get so sucked into the movie theyll think its real. To the point that when 1-18-08 comes youll think something is ACTUALLY gonna happen, in REAL life

I dont know about you guys, but the more research i do, im gettin more and more freaked out

i love it!

Yes... same opinion.
Seems that we would have a realtime live and life experience.
It would be "huge" and "alive". Smile

i don't know about you guys, but i am taking a somewhat relaxed but methodical approach to solving the mystery. I ain't going to get too carried away having a five finger shuffle over every snippet of a clue they feed to us, like breadcrumbs leading to something at the end of a corridor.

oh no, i'll be watching with anticipation but i won't be getting into it so much that i'll be watchin news for a monster attack or going out and looking for fictional slusho sales.... Rolling Eyes

Times have moved on since the hysteria from when Orson Welles made his infamous broadcast of War of the Worlds, I don't believe there's anything to worry about in terms of people thinking it could be real.

That said, there hasn't been an indication yet that there will be real Slushos produced outside of the movie yet... it's something to look out for but isn't a certainty.

If I tricked people into thinking that there was a huge monster coming to kill us all on 1-18-08, coincidently the same date a movie comes out with the same plot as what is happening in real life, I would laugh my ass off.

I don't think it will happen.

Personally I'm already so immersed into this that I really wouldn't be surprised if NY was attacked by a giant monster on 1-18-08. I'm actually thinking it probably will.

Although AlphaOmega has immersed me even more- I have an "Ethan Haas Was Right" t-shirt.

Do I think a monster is coming? No. Am I scared of it? Yes! In the same way you're scared while watching the movie. You know is light projected on a screen, but you're not thinking about that. You're thinking "please Jaimy, don't die!!"

Same here. I know is fiction, and I love that it can make me really worried.

Actually I'll probably be thinking "Go, Gigantor, kill the pitiful mortal!"
or something similar.
Maybe "Hey, why didn't I think of that? CURSE YOU J.J."

I think it'd be cool if they had a promo tv special the night before release. A mock-news show (war of the worlds 2008 sorta thing). they'd have to be real creative to not show the monster or spoil the movie, but if they can pull it off, it'd be a bad-ass way to promote the film

Uh, no... I'd be thinking "What are you waiting for? Eat that skanky bitch!"

Can't wait to go see this with my wife and cheer on the monster.
