[UPDATE] Blog x 3

Three updates are on the blog today.
Quote:
Pallantar Akarat - Interviews
I have extensively interviewed all the workers at the site, but nobody knows what happened. Nobody saw anything. One worker believes he remembers creating the water shipment and storing it, but then he left to perform other tasks. That was the last time anyone saw it.

And under "Jedditor Lebbisun - shipments"

Jedditor, is that REALLY what you've been spending all your time on?

to which, he replied with the attached swhd.png

It looks like Jedditor has been studying a new language. Can anyone read that? Ya know, it almost looks like numbers hidden in there.

I don\'t know, fang. the number is just like a trivia question, I was sure

I hope it\'s really them and not a leak.

[UPDATE] Blogs on July 3

the system is apparently reworking its internal information structure. there may be some slight hitches in service. please excuse our sand. i mean dust.

What are these funny symbols in all my posts?

...
- by Jedditor Lebbisun at Thu, 03 Jul 08 05:05:55 -0400
i told you were working on it! chill out!

I guess the "funny symbols" that Keriwen is posting about are bits of code appearing scattered throughout the posts on all of the blogs with slashes.
That extra backslash \ in catseye's message might be a hint... use slashes in the password? convert number to some form of html coding? switch something? divide something? Dunno

With these "difficulties" and the stasy directory, it seems as though the ssc have figured out how to use the back end of [System] better than the bloggers on it.

That looks like a curly font for Japanese text.

If it weren't a picture, I'd drop it into Babelfish and go from there.

...the backslash is trying to help, but it isn't. Bang Head The hint is pointing at a single apostrophe, such as one might find if the number were said as '78.

No, that doesn't work. Nor does \'78.

EDIT: Other notables: There is a Time Machine remake from 1978 for television. It does not appear to have been all that well received. I'm sure it pales in comparison to other movies that came out in 1978, but, then, in doing so we're comparing other movies to Star Wars IV, and that one's a tall standard. Also, 78 A.D. is considered the beginning of the Saka Era, with new rulers of Scythia and Parthia.

[UPDATES] Blogs, changes to the format of the page, and ...
new text files in the 'stasy' directory.

Added to the Exiles at Large blog. .. reminding us of the whispering rock puzzle.
Quote:
Exiles at Large - Learning
When we first came here, there was nothing but sand. You can't stand on sand, really, you can't lie on it, you can't get comfortable. Eventually we found some rocks but it was still not much.

After a while Keriwen started up lessons again and we found the rocks out in the desert. They're much more soothing. It seems like the wind is quieter out there and the sand doesn't fly around as much. You feel like you can hear things that get drowned out elsewhere. It's a great place for learning and I'm glad Keriwen found it.

I guess it's up to me to be helpful...you could try querying for news, books, help or any of our names.

Oh, and be sure to put in the spam code, it's some security thing Jedditor put in. He really hates spam, whatever that is.
--Alvyurin Ekkatran, 2008-07-07 01:25:28

okay, alvyurin made those annotations some months ago, but i only just hooked them into a real annotation system, so thats why they have those recent times.

[UPDATE] stasy dir
new password clue

Two changes on the stasy directory as of July 11 th .
* http://www.exilearchive.com/stasy/stasy.php
is visibly larger... maybe something else has changed with the page on the design side of it. I dunno.

* http://www.exilearchive.com/stasy/eustasy___071108_00.txt
Has a new clue for us...
Quote:
okay, so new password:

robot cat + gull-wing + transpose the number from the previous password
(2 syllables) + (2 syllables) + (2 syllables 2 syllables) make it sound
good.

and we should have the single quotes or whatever they are working better.
I think I've figured out why someone never uses them.

--catseye

Just to throw out some ideas:
I think these are anime related which I'm not very familiar with 'cause I was too old to be watching cartoons when they came out. Rolling Eyes But with a little web searching, Doraemon is a robotic cat who travels back in time.

Gull-wing, if not an anime reference, might be about the style of hinged car doors, like on a DeLorean, which was also a time machine in "Back to the Future".

So maybe
"robot cat + gull-wing + transpose the number from the previous password"
Doraemon + DeLorean + '87 ?
I'm not getting the "2 syllables" part... will have to think on that awhile.

Drive-by posting! I have no idea what all's going on in this thread, but the Japanese is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Sore wa himitsu desu."

Spelled wrong (should be ha, not wa), but it means "That's a secret." Classic tagline of Xelloss from Slayers.

*fails to be helpful*

Thank you, anacalime. Your translation makes me wonder if jedditor is secretly a member of the ssc.

There have been quite a few updates to the site.
* a new image clue (link) for the password to http://www.exilearchive.com/stasy/stasy.php
* the whispering rock solution was given but without an explanation. link
* a new conversation with the System, including more codes, link, which makes me wonder if there's somewhere to interact with the System.

Picture ClueTheater major-lurker chiming in:

Theater major-lurker chiming in:

"A poor player that struts/
his hour upon the stage"

is from Macbeth, Act V scen v.

Also, it looks like the two phrases in the left hand corner that are struck out read:
timemachine78 (The initial password?)
and
derareanan87 (not entirely sure about this one...kinda hard to read.)

And the "water margin, geddit?"...maybe something to do with the missing shipment?

I still can't figure out a password from it...the formula and the the "&" saying "What about me?" seem really random. Thoughts?

Water Margin

Also, "Water Margin" is one of the four great classical novels of Chinese literature...(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outlaws_of_the_Marsh)

Feeling kinda lonely here...

Does anyone know what the picture is from? The formula has three terms...I'm guessing that maybe one is the picture, one is the Macbeth quote, and one relates to the "water margin"...

Both Water Margin and Macbeth are connected to someone with the family name of Kurosawa...

Akira Kurosawa directed a movie called Throne of Blood, which is an adaptation of Macbeth.

Toshio Kurosawa is an actor in the film adaptation of Water Margin.

I wish I knew if I was even on the right track, here...it's kinda like beating my head against the wall.

New blogging

There have been several updates in the blogs, discussing the exiles use of golems for surveillence purposes, and another water shipment being stolen.

i dont know if it helps at all, but soemthing about the video made me think of the overall tone of this ARG.

Hey - it seems like this ARG is alive again. There have been a bunch of updates to the blogs...apparantly the missing water was being taken by someone who calls himself the sorcerer. Someone has managed to hack into the "Exiles at large" blog, and post a trickster god type myth. The source text of the welcome page has "orwmkyvydiiun" hidden in it, which translates to
findbpmpuzzle in ROT 17. There's also a little graphic in the lower left hand corner of the blogs page, that seems to be alternating between a little guy saying "It looks like you're trying to read this website! Need help?" and one saying "It looks like you're trying to SUBMIT TO THE WILL OF YOUR BETTERS... need help?". When you click on it, you get a system "verybaderror", and a request for assistance. The source code says, "hell, now what? dont worry ill get to the bottom of this"

The system also has a blog post that includes some code that's theoretically base 16, but doesn't really translate into anything understandable aside from "open"

So...a lot going on. Those of you who used to play but gave up, c'mon back?
