Ok, I know I'm stating the obvious here, but I thought it might help to break it down into it's numbers in case that means anything.

3 8 1
2 4 6
7 5

lol i know this, but its always fun to be the first in line

as for Vidstudent.. how did the PM get your address? this all seems like a giant curveball here.. a whole different direction, but I definitely like the spontanaity.

As for the Pics on the front.. 12 Hexagonal Shapes... Middle row have empty brackets, except for the left hex..

The left Hex, which appears to be a piece of a blueprint which the labels appear to be not english.. from what I can make out through editing, the words say:

Tuselsry (Middle), Eror (Right), Eramade (Left), Fary (Bottom), Alscund (Bottom).. that last one was tough to make out so it could be off a bit..

Anyone recognize any of these?

Eros

Esplanade

Tutelary

Abscond

Fury

...and a couple clipped off.

Hey, are you talking about the game Hex? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hex_%28board_game%29

Also, if converted to numbers, I think the empty space should be a 0. Maybe

Good idea. It wouldn't let me leave it blank, but a zero makes sense.

And Eros certainly ties into Psyche. But Psyche is Greek and Eros Roman, no?
[EDIT] No, I guess they're both Greek.

Well.. again thanks to wikipedia:

Quote:
Greek Name- Eros / Roman Name- Cupid (In the western world, he is most often invoked coming up to and on Valentine's Day. He is depicted as an angel who wears a white robe, carries a bow with heart shaped arrows and a halo above his head). His mother is Aphrodite. He was the god of love and sex. Eros may refer to:

Eros (mythology), the Greek god of love
Eros (love), the Greek word for (especially) romantic or sexual love and the life instinct postulated by Freudian psychology, standing in opposition to Thanatos, the death instinct
433 Eros, an asteroid that was the principal target of the NEAR Shoemaker probe
Eros, (brand name/trademark) for a range of premium personal products produced by Megasol GMBH in Germany. Internationally recognised as developing the worlds first silicone personal lubricant in 1994, and first to be approved and certified (TUV) as compatible with latex condoms.
Eros (film), a 2004 film
Eros (comics) a comic book superhero appearing in Marvel Comics, better known as Starfox.
Eros Comix, a line of pornographic comic books published by Fantagraphics.
Eros Ramazzotti, an Italian pop star
Eros, a magazine launched and published by Ralph Ginzburg in 1962
Eros Labs, a Bollywood laboratary that makes DVDs and videos
The Shaftesbury memorial, commonly known as the Eros Statue, a monument in Piccadilly Circus, London
Eros (operating system) an experimental Operating System
Eros, Secretary of Roman Emperor Aurelian, whose assassination he masterminded (275 AD); name provided by historian Zosimus
Eros, Louisiana, a town in Louisiana, United States
Emperor Eros Vengaal, main antagonist in Alex Verman's Arkasandriel Series

So Eros= cupid who was the lover of Psyche.. interesting.

EDIT: All the words bolded, had a direct or indirect relation to the ROT'd words from the front of the postcard.. I wonder how this all ties though.. apparently the specific Greek Mythology theme is more directly relating us to the Story of Eros/Cupid.. Sex, Arrowheads, etc

Ive been trying to look up some of the ROTs that were on the front of the postcard..but nothing is really coming up. (Then again, I only tried wikipedia) I found this on ECHIDNA...

ECHIDNA:
Quote:
In the most ancient layers of Greek mythology Echidna (Greek: Έχιδνα) (ekhis, meaning "she viper") was called the "Mother of All Monsters". Echidna was described by Hesiod as a female monster spawned in a cave, who mothered with her mate Typhoeus (or Typhon) every major monster in the Greek myths,

the goddess fierce Echidna who is half a nymph with glancing eyes and fair cheeks, and half again a huge snake, great and awful, with speckled skin, eating raw flesh beneath the secret parts of the holy earth. And there she has a cave deep down under a hollow rock far from the deathless gods and mortal men. There, then, did the gods appoint her a glorious house to dwell in: and she keeps guard in Arima beneath the earth, grim Echidna, a nymph who dies not nor grows old all her days. (Theogony, 295-305)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echidna_%28mythology%29

EDIT: This may be nothing, but on Google, when I try to look up: Midnight Eye, Sexy Dynamite, and I think one more, Im getting a repeating Anime theme. I realize this has nothing to do with what we are working on.. its just interesting that these random phrases are also related to Anime. Maybe PM is an Anime fan? eh.. not me.

EDIT2: In the bottom row of the Hex's, the word "system" caught my eye. There are 5 lines.

Quote:
Line 1: Ntuser Ntuser
Line 2: Machine\Sam Sam
Line 3: Machine\Security Security
Line 4: Machine\Software Software
Last line has the word "System" but thats all I can make out..

you guys all rock!
I put what I could get from the thread so far into the wiki.

Anything we can possibly label from the images depicted in the hexagons? (other than naming words in the content, I mean names of what the content is - could be a code)

Argh, many posts. Shocked

Searching for the ROTed words in the wiki entry about R-Type, I can find: Tropical Angel, Echidna, Digitalis, Amphibi(ous), Platinum and Heart (not together though) Iason, Dantalion, Ragnarok, Strike Bomber, Misty (Force), Sexy (force), Peace Maker (may not be Ice, as I thought) and Leo.

Coincidence?

Neither of those pop out at me as song titles, so, no. Smile

I have a hunch we're looking for numbers for those three blank spaces on the front. Again, the twelve on the back, along with the honeycomb looking suspiciously like a seven. To the right of the honeycomb, we have a seating chart for a stadium concert; I swear that device to the right of Siskiwit Bay (Wisconsin, Yahoo tells me) has to be an electromagnet.

EDIT: Scratch that; the bay resort is in Wisconsin, but that *clearly* is the Upper Peninsula of MEEEECHEGAN prominently featured.

I believe youre right.. way too much of a coincidence.

From the R-Type Wikipedia:

Quote:
Standard Force H: Similar to the Standard Force and Defensive Force in the angular ranges of its weapons, but fires an 'energy honeycomb', which looks like a hexagonal patternof light.

Quote:
Leo Force

Quote:
Anchor Force: First introduced in R-Type Delta, as the R-13 Cerberus's Force

Echidna was the mother of the Cerberus. (Stretch?)

Quote:
Also mentioned....

Mist Force
Metallic Force
Sexy Force
Love Force
Platinum Force
Psy Bit
Hysteric Dawn

Quote:
Tropical Angel
Tropical Angel is a waterskiing game, released in the arcades in 1983. Presumably in homage to this, one of the ships is designated as the R-11S Tropical Angel.

Quote:
R-9Ø Ragnarok: In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is the name of the battle that is predicted to take place at the end of the world. There is a Ragnarok variant, the R-9Ø2 Ragnarok II, which contains the so-called 'Final Wave Cannon'; a weapon capable of destroying any enemy (including bosses) in a single shot when fully charged. Perhaps also in keeping with the Norse theme, the ship's designation contains the character Ø, a letter of the Norwegian alphabet. This ship, along with the R-9S Strike Bomber and the R-9Ø2 Ragnarok II, is derived from the R-90 from R-Type III: The Third Lightning.

Quote:
R-13 series: These are also named for Greek mythological figures. In Greek legend, Echidna is the mother of Cerberus, and Cerberus was the guardian of Hades. The R-13T Echidna is the prototype for the R-13A Cerberus, which is the ancestor of the R-13A2 Hades. The R-13A Cerberus originally appeared as the R-13 Cerberus in R-Type Delta. The R-13's ending in that game is perhaps the darkest of the three endings: It shows the R-13, trapped in the Bydo forest. This captured R-13 appears in R-Type Final, as the boss of the hidden Stage 3.5 (Forest Watchdog). The pre-mission text reads "What evil keeps him leashed here?"

Wow I was right on the money!
Quote:
BX-T Dantalion: This ship was also named for a demon described in the Lesser Key of Solomon. Dantalion is the 71st listed (i.e. a little higher up than Andromalius by some reckonings), and it is his name that is given to the first ship that used Bydo tissue for parts of the ship itself, rather than just the Force. To the humans besieged by the Bydo, this really would seem to be a kind of demon-ship.

Just in case you missed it from Twee:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R-Type_Final

Wow you werent jokin twee!

EDIT: Bruce, Im not sure about some of the others, but the top right Hex looks to be a Colleseum Layout, with the seating arrangements and all... the one beside it is obviously a Honeycomb. The one with the label "Eros", upon reinvestigation, appears to be an underground map (due to the very bottom of the Hex, with the winding tunnels). Im not sure if this helps at all, but there ya go..
