Well, well...Yahoo search is being kind to me. Search of "Tutelary Esplanade" leads to the game "Exile", a BBS game where the map came from.

Is there a connection between Exile and R-Type? If not, why reference two different games?

ZETRIA ATRIAN AND THE DRAGON'S SHELL

Waves washed over the clam's burrow, swirling sand around, concealing the
lowly creature from her view. But the waves also exposed something in the
sand. Zetria walked over and picked it up, letting the ocean wash away the
silt. The object was an old turtle shell.

"Now what interest could you have in an old thing like me?" the shell asked
her.

"I've just learned something from a clam, so why not a shell?" Zetria asked.

"A [person]'s viewpoint," the shell replied. "Well, if you'd like, I'll tell
you about myself. I was once the shell of a turtle. A supremely enlightened
creature, he lived for a thousand years and then advanced in form, becoming a
dragon. As dragons have no need of shells, he left me behind and made his way
to the Ocean Palace to present himself to the king of all dragons."

"You missed out on seeing that," Zetria said.

"Perhaps, but why should I care?" the shell replied. "I am a shell, and that
is all I will ever be. I served my purpose and was discarded. Now I have not
a care in the world, letting myself be tossed about by the sea, becoming one
with the elements. Perhaps the waves will render me to powder. Perhaps a
craftsman will carve me into a work of art. Perhaps you will wear me on your
head. I have no way of knowing, I'm just a shell."

"I don't think I'll wear you on my head," Zetria replied, "But I would like to
take you along to remind me of your words."

"That sounds like something only a [person] would do," the shell said. "If you
really think I'm that useful, maybe I should share with you something I
learned from the dragon."

Zetria turned the shell over and discovered it divided into nine sections,
three by three, each inscribed with a mystical number. "Amazing," Zetria said,
tracing the symbols. "Thank you."

"Don't bother thanking me," the shell replied. "I'm just a shell."

"Of course," Zetria said. Then she placed the shell in her sack and began to
walk.

I received the following e-mail and after some brief googling found this thread. I'm interested to see where this leads, especially since I don't know how my e-mail address may have been given to whoever is sending them.

Shadowdaemon, are you part of any online groups or message boards where you may have given out your email address? If you tell us, we might be able to find some themes for the game.

I know, for example, that my email is publically available on Unfiction, but how were the rest of your email addresses collected?

Again, if we know these things and can figure out how we're connected, we may be able to predict some of the game's events.

groverXIII, a friend and participant in the NIN arg (mostly because heavy metal is his thing), was wondering if anyone's been checking these odd names ('MINIMER RANDIBONE, 'KALLOMAR RIDDITUM') for anagrams. I will not discount this possibility at this time.

Myself, I am staring blankly at the two corner hexagons that are not a stadium and the Upper Peninsula (hereafter referred to as the UP). One appears to be some sort of garden with a monitor in front of it; a game or box design is likely, and it is in isometric view. The other doesn't look any more informational no matter how you magnify it - I'm using a lens, and I can make out what appears to be markings from 50M to 110M on the left. The rest is a bunch of No. XXXXXX, with the X's filled in randomly AFAIK. I look at that thing and fail.

I don't make my e-mail publicly known, the only thing that's occurred to me is that I gave my e-mail to Microsoft(I have an x-box) for promotions and such from them and people connected with them.

Hm... That is odd. Especially when you consider that R-Type--the game which some people are spec-ing is involved with this CF--was released on Playstation, not X-Box.

Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what pans out.

It's possible that if the game is coming out with a sequel that it could be on both systems, it wouldn't be the first time after all. Also it could just be that Microsoft gave the publisher my info, I know that there are Eidos games on the x-box.

Well well well... glad to be lured into this seemingly new adventure that seems to be having connections to a game I know a bit about... R-Type... Just got home from my fall break and was greeted with this exceedingly random postcard that I thought was related to another ARG I'm currently in due to the seeming computer references... although the spider threw me off and I was like... huh?... so here I am... I have a very similar postcard however mine has a different stuff on the front... I'll have scans up as soon as I can find a scanner... Other then that they seem to be the same I believe but I'll post it up for comparison's sake since I know how important it can be to have the eye of another to look at things! Very Happy Looking forward to answering the questions posed in this book by all!

can you at least tell us the letters on the front of the card? looks like gibberish but we can ROT it like we did to Vid's postcard..

EDIT: This may not be the best way to do it, but do you have a camera phone? I was going to say take a picture of the postcard front/back, and send it to your own email account via picture text...and voila.. makeshift lowgrade scanner..heh

I put Minimer Randibone into an anagram generator a couple of days ago but it came out with about 17,000 possibilities. Sorry, but I didn't take the time to go through them all.

I haven't seen much discussion of the images on the back....

One thing I've noticed about the scans is that the drawn images are all different. I got an aloe vera.

also the bars in the background of the three empty hexes would seem to suggest that those numbers are supposed to be combined somehow.

oh yeah

so I'm staring at the hexes and top row #4 from the left looks kind of like a theater seating chart. the grey box says Stage on it and most of the little rectangles are numbered. So I was thinking a theater in the round but the setup doesn't seem quite right for that. Maybe some kind of political thing like the senate or the UN or something?
