At this point, everyone can pretty much figure that we are going to walk into this movie and eventually see some form of large monster trolling through New York City - thats a given at this point.
With that said, I think ultimately there will be more of a need to figure out how to defeat the monster over the need to figure out how it was formed. They could spend the first 20 minutes of the movie telling you how it was created and nobody would speculate otherwise.

That's an excellent point.

JJ said, at S.D. ComiCon, that his monster would be Insane, and he described it in direct contrast to "adorable" King Kong, and "charming" Godzilla, i.e., this monster is going to be scary, with nothing at all 'campy' about it. This fits w/the second trailer, and with the overall Blair Witch style, hyper-realism approach.

So, how will the monster be dealt with? What do you all think - is it killed by the end of the movie or... something else? Ideas...?

Well, since it is area formerly known as Central Park, I don't think there will be a Central Park anymore. Laughing

I'd like to think it could pull a godzilla and just return to the bottom of the ocean, but i doubt it... the government would be hunting it down. The characters had scratches on their arm, but wasn't "infected", so what if our people is part of a fraction of people who are immune and that's why the military put her in the helicopter? Also, they might defeat GrumpyPants Sr, but how do you handle all the GrumpyPants Jrs and "the infected"? JJ could leave it open-ended for a sequel.

This all leads me to speculate that the monster may be dealt with by the military in the form of a nuclear explosion. That would explain how they could deal with any little monsters/infected people. Also, it would make sense that the phrase "area formerly known as central park" would be used if the entire island was vaporized.

or

The military finds a way to contain the entire incident on manhattan island, somehow keeping the monster there and closing off the island as a quarantine.

That's assuming....

That the monster cannot dig, and the containment field is strong enough to keep it on the island of Manhattan, since it obviously can swim. I was thinking, as someone else did in another post (or two), that perhaps Slusho! helps build up an immunity to the infection in a person, but only if they drink 7 or more. Perhaps Jason isn't such a slacker-maybe's he's working undercover for Tagruato with a knowledge of what's going down (along with Teddy), and feeding his girlfriend and brother enough Slusho to keep them protected from this virus. Perhaps THAT'S what "Remember who takes care of you" means on the back of that picture.....

Just throwing it out there. I thought Ganu was evil, as I posted earlier, but after seeing the second trailer (and Beowulf), I'm re-thinking my position a bit. Seems like the U.S. government is doing an experiment on NYC. A very large biological weapon that got out of hand...sure it's been said before (didn't search for that one, but I'll find that topic and post more there).

Okay, that's done. Flame away, if you must....Be gentle, I'm not that big.... Wink
