[SPEC] heres a new thought for you all :how's it end?

That could be really cool, but I don't see how it could fit into to a movie like this - if the movie is all hand-held footage following Rob & Co. running through the city in a panic, then it's hard (but not impossible) to imagine a plausible way for them, and therefore us, to learn about and/or watch the bringing down of Goliath. I suppose they could take refuge at some military base, but if it's going to stay at all realistic, then they can't be hanging out in the control room w/the Generals (like little Kenny and his school chums in many a Godzilla movie). If this were a standard, blockbuster action movie, then I would not be surprised if Rob's Dad was a General in charge of defending NYC and bringing down the Beast! But, this movie seems to be very different; going for a much more life-like feel.

I'm not saying it can't happen, but I don't see any plausible way for it to happen; not off the top of my head anyway. It's an interesting possibility though - gotta let it simmer for a while. Confused

I've never really thought about it. How'd they get there so quickly?? Maybe they knew :O

I frankly hope they die. Almost everyone. I don't want the monster to die either. I hope it kinda finds a way to hide or to go dormant, maybe in the same place it was before (or possibly a place Bold Futura can't get to...yet). It could go dormant like the end of the Blob...

Also, for us to get our own monster, we need one like Godzilla who can come back later.

i put the question to you all to try and assess the bigger picture. Why think about just the monster, people and associated websites, when someone should be trying to work out the movie as a whole.

so maybe not a superhero. i lean towards scientists or the slusho seven themselves, or maybe the monster retreats and comes back in Cloverfield 2 - this time its personal. i dunno

Personally, I think the monster will either just die (from exploding gas mains and the like, and/or just being out of water too long), or be killed by the military, or return to the sea.

While I initially thought returning to the sea made the most sense, I'm leaning toward death-by-military. If it returns to the sea, the only realistic 'epilogue' is that we scour up every ocean until we found it and then we kill it, along w/every living thing within 100 miles of it (just to be sure).

If it's really just a biological creature (but BIG!), then the military could kill it with relative ease, I'd think (compared to, say, Godzilla). It's a big target, after all. A couple of jets make a pass and it's deader than Dillinger. Were this a Godzilla movie, we'd have to unload every conventional weapon we had at the thing - while it swatted shells away like flies. But, if it's supposed to be a real creature, then I'd imagine a few direct missile hits would pretty much do the trick. Or, hell, fire enough shoulder-launched rockets at a big animal and it'll go down. [We did see prop rocket launchers in an on-set photo, right?]. Most sea creatures don't evolve rocket-proof defenses.

My guesses on the outcome:

1) Military literally has to nuke NYC to kill it
2) the beast returns to the sea
3) if it's biologically enhanced/mutated/created, there could be something in the altered DNA that gives it an extremely short lifespan (like the Replicants in "Blade Runner." I'd pay good money to see the Monster grab Ganu Yoshida by the neck and scream, "I want more life, f**ker!" Cool

)
4) or, the monster really doesn't exist. It's all in somebody's mind. (I still believe wholeheartedly that this is gonna turn out to be like Vanilla Sky, or Fight Club, or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.)
