What the hell is that even supposed to mean? JJ said he wanted to make a monster that is 'our own' - I figured he was implying America. Are we going to have the Mounties come in and save the day? And who said the day was going to be saved - it sounds like most people believe the entire cast dies!

He could've just meant Western culture in general. America is pretty damn vague, it's two freakin continents. And he just said "our own", that could mean anything beacuse it's even vaguer than America.

Maybe he meant his and his son monster. Meaning we won't get to see it, just the character running and hiding, debris falling and roars in the distance. Then someone tells them to come out because the monster is dead. A seconf before they reach the gigant corpse the movie ends.

JJ then tell his kid "Dude, I really love our monster we may show it to the people after all mysteries in Lost had been solved."

I like it. Sounds just like something JJ might do. Wink

Getting WAY back to the discussions at the beginning of the thread...
There's this idea coming up that maybe everyone of the 7 die, and that this possibly heralds the death of ALL humanity. If that's the case, go back and look at 1-18-08.com and tell me - who is supposed to be looking at those pictures (and recipe card Wink )? Those pictures are all dated in our future, and thus we can figure so is the perspective those images are seen. Question is WHO is looking at them? If all humanity is dead. Is there an alien finding out about this some ages from now, or have the mice finally asserted themselves and this is actually THE answer to the question of life, the universe, and everything?

As far as the idea of the monster dying or being killed, or perhaps returning whence it came - if JJ intends any potential of a direct sequel, I'd expect it to be the latter. Otherwise he's got to invent a reason why we'd have a related occurence again - which I'm sure he could do.

I thought the goal of this promotion, which I wouldn't call a game, was to create buzz for the project? Keep people talking about it and hopefully sell more tickets?

We don't have a job in this promotion. We do what we feel like when we feel like it. Which mostly consists of us waiting for something to happen.

Oh wait... maybe SER-HI means that because we will know that a monster is about to attack, we can warn some of the characters on their myspace and perhaps save them?

Wow, that would be taking a chance with the movie...depending on the action of the net to affect the story of a movie that has been filmed a while ago.

Rose = Joykill Twisted Evil

But you are right. Its all speculating and discussing what we would like to see in the movie until they throw us something else............ and then back to the speculating and discussing what we'd like to see in the movie.

Ahem...

How do we know exactly what was filmed?
What I mean is, haven't films been done with multiple endings, according to pre-screening reaction, as well as directors throwing herrings to shake off studio snitching.
What if the game IS to affect the outcome, by simply getting the word to someone in Myspace whom none of us truly will ever know, either personally or biblically(sadly, kinda crushing on Lil) could be that we just need to present a plausible reason for these folks to be wary, and have all our facts straight, so that it makes sense to them in their context as "people" in this version of the world.
Don't know about you guys, but i would have given anything to tell a few of my favorite characters "Don't open the goddamn door!!!"

Maybe we need to treat these folks as someone we truly know, and let them know that we're noticing something out of the ordinary. A game about creating buzz, to create hype.

That might explain why Rob looks like he knows somethings wrong?

You're right, Hurley. Sorry, SER-HI - I rushed to judgment. Embarassed Now, I'm thinking of Clue (the movie), w/it's alternate endings...

Still, they could only have filmed so many alternate endings. Clue had three, I think. Realistically - how many do you suppose JJabrams & Co. could have? First number that pops into my head is six. Don't know why. I think that would be an upper limit though.

Also, would it work if we can only affect the final outcome? If we can influence that wouldn't we be able to influence more? I'm not saying we get to determine every step they take, but more points of possible story divergence than just ONE, at the end. They might be doing something really revolutionary - maybe they filmed a kind of collage of scenes, so that there are multiple points where the story could diverge - they would have a master flow chart somewhere and, as things develop, they simply edit together the scenes they have to choose from. And, we should also assume they'd have the foresight to make every possible branch of the flow-chart be a plot line that would work, be a good movie.

Two many branches in the flow-chart, though, and there's going to be a lot of unused/wasted footage. I dunno. Maybe just a few alternate endings then. I guess that could work. Hurm... Confused

I'm thinking smallest common denominator Mel. wouldn't have to be huge amounts of film wasted on whole endings being reshot, or changed. the end would be the same, as would the result. The question would be, if you had a chance to save ONE person you cared about, who would it be?

That's the person who's looking at the photo's, and who finds the cam post-attack. We get to save one life, so make it count.

[Edit] About wasting film, this is all supposed to be shot on HI-Def video, right? A creative guy with a few million dollars could turn out a dozen movies, with little or no waste. All data, no huge amount of cutting room bullshit, just JJ and a few buds with an editing suite.
