[Review] I finally got to see Cloverfield! And something that I found funny. Just my little quick review of Cloverfield. If it's a bit late it's because it premiered this thrusday in Puerto Rico. I won't post many of the obvious spoilers of it cause, let's face it, it's been said over & over.
The Monster: 10/10 - Every scene of the monster made me jump. Especially when Rob & co. are heading into the subway.
Story: 6/10 - Found the guy heads to rescue his love while a monster attacks a bit cheesy, but some parts of it I liked.
And something funny that happened. I was the only one, of my friends and all the people who where at the theater, that knew there was nothing else after the last Coney Island scene. The lights hadn't yet come on but the credits were rolling. Me & my girlfriend stood up & people were yelling "SIT DOWN! THE MOVIE'S NOT OVER YET!" To which I answered back, "YES IT IS, THAT'S ALL, NOTHING MORE, THE MOVIE'S OVER, I'M GONE!"
When I got out, my friends started telling me that the movie toatlly sucked, until I explained quite a bit of the ARG/ARE to them. Then they liked it. But the manager of the theater told me I had to get out because they didn't want me telling stuff about the movie outside.
And yes, I may have seen the bootleg, but I had to watch it in the theater to get the REAL experience, which I loved. And if StarshipTrooper reads this, yes the military scene blew my B***s to the back of the theater.
Overall, I give the movie a 9/10.

I found that was the general 'outcry' of the movie; the ending. people have this want to have a fulfilled/happy ending... My sister's like that- The entire movie could have been amazing, but if the hero didn't survive in the end- it sucked.

And thats the reason every movie ends up being crap...people want to see certain things...and without those things...the movie "sucks"...i loved the ending because thats the way it had to end...its a POV movie...there was no room for a happy ending or anything

I mean, people don't realize that this was from the POV of a regular nobody... Regular people who don't get an explanation of what is happening or why it's happening- they just have to deal w/ it... In that sense, it IS like 9/11... When those planes hit, the people that were caught in the thick of it didn't get a thorough explanation of what was happening, they just knew that they needed to escape the area.
Maybe in the sequel, Matt Reeves or whoever can just fulfill that 'outcry' by making it from a soldiers POV, which could give them an 'explanation' by being in a room w/ a bunch of 'know-it-all' scientists and generals or something.

Personally i think that answers would only hurt the effect of the entire thing...
we ALL want answers but think if we got all the answers, the entire thing would be shot to shit, all that time wasted, because we all kno unless there is some fantastic crazy insane explanation then its not gonna live up to everybodys expectations

I would much prefer that the makers of the movie explain their ideas on the DVD rather then make a sequel explain it.

eh, the way I see it- if this is America's monster... shouldn't we have the right to know its origin?

I'm
thinking
hoping that between the action figure, the manga, and whatever DVD extras it holds, we'll have a good understanding of our creature.

Ive seen it twice, liked it alot the first time, LOVED it after the second time. knowing when the creature would show himself i got much better view and feel for the creature. And the movies so fast paced its easy to forget things. The second time i saw it there were things i didnt catch the first time. Its definitely a theatre movie though. Its gonna lose so much on the small screen. Oh well, ill still get the DVD when it comes out. My boys got a 62in HD or something like that. itll probably still be pretty phat, But nowhere near as good as seeing it in the theater in my opinion
