[NEW] Slusho! Contest - Coming Soon! In addition to the new Distribution Opportunities page being discussed here , a mysterious eighth button was added to the Slusho home page.
When you click on the button, it says "We Are Coming, We'll Find You Soon!!"
The Japanese label reads - 競争 - which was translated by MrToasty . The direct translation is "Competition".
However, Euchre found that the the underlying link for the button will eventually lead to CONTEST page!
Any guesses on what it will be? And in case the PMs are listening... what do you want to see?

Oh wow, i really hope this is a selling or drinking competition. I would market the he11 out of this drink. I would also drink way more than six...
On a real note, It could deal with the robots or the drink itself...

Do you think we have to like try out for interviews and maybe if we get them we win the 'contest'?

Wow, that would be BRILLIANT if JJ & Co got US to market Slusho and the movie via a contest that incentivizes us to tell our friends, family, whoever and/or sell Slusho. He's already enslaved us with this game so he knows we're his devoted minions (b*tches?) if we've lasted this long through all the downtime on this game and still kept up hope that something would happen. Maybe the lag between the Slusho site and now, when things are happening, was to weed out the half-hearted players who'd lose patience and go home.
I mean, that would explain the reduced budget - he doesn't need expensive trailers and TV ads and such when he's got us to do it for almost free. They just put out an awesome trailer, a few posters, some Slusho merchandising and let us do the rest.
What would be the best prize?? A job as a story consultant on JJ's next ARG. Shoot, I'd probably do that for free. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at one of their creative meetings for Lost or whatever they're up to.

Maybe the contest will be who can sell the most movie tickets door-to-door!
BTW, Here is the Japanese for "Competition", a little larger for those that can't read it:

It's kind of strange, but the Japanese symbols for competition look like two humanoids, with some type of creature facing them to the left. Probably me looking too hard again. And it's probably not the place to bring it up, but the "doubles theme" creeps in once again.

Actually, in regards to the marketing of this film, I had wondered if they'd do a "street team" style of marketing, which is popular within the rap/hip-hop genre.
Basically, they'd hire a bunch of people in certain cities to post handbills, spreading the word at the street level and getting more people involved. While this isn't totally unheard of in film marketing (The Dark Knight ARG at the San Diego Comic Con smacked of street team marketing, actually), I think it would actually be a fairly unique method of promoting this film that would go hand-in-hand with the handicam-style that's rumored to be used in the film.
Just a thought.

I have been of the impression for a while that the whole idea of this operation is to get us to promote the film, instead of a larger and more costly conventional marketing campaign. That's basically the nature of viral marketing. A contest would likely reward those of us that are the best at doing such a thing.
I think something we have to keep in mind is that the contest is likely to have a very IG flair to it. It's on the Slusho site, and to show us a trailer or give us a monster name would be a bit too 'behind the curtain' (a concept that filmmakers would understand, even if they don't fully understand the ARG concept). I think it more likely we'd get something branded Slusho! and very likely exclusive. If those PMs ARE reading this - how about some free Slusho! shirts and hats for some 'runner up' players?

To combine two thoughts...
What if Euchre is right, and we are the footmen(women) in this campaign, and what if they ARE going to find us?(even paranoids are right some of the time, eranmane) Everyone who has been IG, and has sent some type of communication to the respective sites, Slusho.jp and Tagruato.jp, would have to leave some type of trail, whether it be return e-mail addresses, or simple contact info, like the folks who are calling in to the company phone numbers.
I found it strange that when you right click on the photo site at 1-18-08, flashplayer asks how much space 1-18-08 can use on my drive.

I think that's just an artifact of the settings you have for your install of Flash Player. If you right click a Flash object and choose Settings, you can go to the folder icon marked tab which addresses the storage settings for any such Flash object. You might have given Flash a fairly small amount of space, your drive is fairly full, or dependent on your choice of browser the Flash Player may handle caching differently.

I think the Contest will involve something that can be done over the internet, not street marketing. It would appeal to more people and be easier to do.

What I'm thinking is one of those mini-slushee machines, like the home ones that make margauritas. All zoomed up in Slusho! colors and design.
And a years' surply of the powder mix sent directly to your door.
I've come to this idea from this quote:
a Slusho! machine for your store today! We will send representatives and scientists who will train you on how to operate our machine, and preserve the flavor of our special ingredient, Seabed's Nectar!! And what is more, we will have the special flavor tasties delivered bi-weekly, right to your storefront!!!
