At the risk of "feeding the troll" I am going to attempt to dissect the theory. If the argument continues to go the way it is, I think this thread can be titled as "[Humour]"

First off Ill say that you are ignoring other peoples evidence and that the whole internet is not in an uproar about the imaginary face, as you put it. The Splice Lines

There are no splice lines. I carefully looked at the picture, and the only thing I saw was the edge of the ladies hair. I don't know where you got this idea of 'splice lines' but they are simply not there.

If you look at the girl on the right's face, you can see how the face slowly goes from light to dark. If you have ever seen a photo, you will know that the lighting effects on both ladies dark hair the hair will remain dark, particularly as there is little lighting.

Incorrect, the faces do NOT match. I have performed my own analysis of the picture, and it is posted below.

Simply not true.


Now for my analysis.

1) Both eyes are different, the eye opening on the left girl is larger, while the girl on the right has a much wider eye opening.
2) The girl on the right's nose bridge is futher out, or the eyes are further in. We can see this because by the height of the ridge around the eye in both girls.
3) The nose shapes are different. The girl on the right's nose extends to about 1 quarter into her eye. The girl on the lefts nose extends to just the start of her eye. Conclusion, the nose of the girl on the right is wider. Even taking into account perspective, the noses do not match.
4) Tracing a line from the eyes to the mouth, the edge of the girl on the right's mouth lines up to the center of her eye. The girl on the left's goes not much farther than her nose.
5) The girl on the right's eyebrows curve in more, and earlier than the girl on the left's.
6) The hair of the girl on the right is straight, while the girl on the left's is curly.
7) The eyes are different colors.
Cool When looking at the two mouth shapes, the girl on the right's is more relaxed, whilst the girl on the left's is more open.
9) Skin texture is different, although its hard to tell, the girl on the right's skin is smoother, this is most noticeable when comparing areas around the mouth.

Put simply, they are not the same person. Now that ive put all that out:

If you think you solved this one back in July, by all means, go and word your opinion in any of the other many topics on this forum. I don't really think is constructive to come in the middle of a topic to say "this is old"

Sure, all things point to say they're not the same girl. But who are them, when are them and where are them is still open to discussion.

 		I think the idea that it's the same face, but that each side is not from the same original picture is a very good theory. That would explain why one eyelid might be slightly more closed. It also can explain the different looking skin texture, as already pointed out - lighting can make textures look different.

I also think the 'eyeliner' on the left side of the 'composite face' is just smeared running mascara. If that's eyeliner, it's the nastiest looking makeup job I think I've ever seen - not even worthy of a cheap hooker, don't you think?

As for 'splice lines' go find the lines where I spliced Lil into the 1-18-08 poster. There aren't lines, but there ARE some feathering artifacts I didn't remove (to make a point) if you look. Professionals would not just chop an image off at an edge and plop it in so crudely, and feathering in most decent graphic editors is an automated and easy procedure. Most people just don't know it's there, or don't understand what it does.

I don't think that even IF this is two sides of one woman's face, it's any special clue. I think it's at most a novel approach to creating an image for the web page. I'd venture that if it was created this way, it's because none of the pics they had looked 'incidental' enough because they captured the whole woman's face, so they decided grafting halves of a face on would look more mysterious and like something snapped in the midst of chaos.
(Photographers are humans like us, and might have problems thinking outside their normal 'box' of having to compose a shot.)

Well said, and since I've been saying it's old a lot I'll let you know why.

There are plenty of other threads that could've been resurrected to continue this debate. If this familiar speculation had been posted in one of those threads, I don't think it would've elicited this much flaming. This isn't anything new, and didn't deserve or warrant a new thread.

However, I don't think I've implied or suggested it's been solved, but I have posted my opinion. I don't have to support my opinion, it's an opinion that I'm not pushing as fact. I don't believe it's the same girl, plain and simple.
