Tim that doesn't really fall under your 'not seeing any part of the monster' theory

That's what the "Then again" meant. That I could be and usually am a complete idiot. (can I flame myself?)

I saw a Beowulf trailer last night during Hero's. It's almost 4 weeks before Beowulf's release (Nov 16) so I guess you can use that as a guide for TV advertising. Expect to see 1-18-08 TV trailers about 3-4 weeks before its release.
I still predict a theatrical trailer for 1-18-08 in front of Beowulf...You can take it to the bank.

The Scream Awards comes on tonight on Spike TV. We could see something there like a trailer or even a title announcement?

Those awards were Friday the 19th? Is this a replay tonight?

Isn't Heroes an Abrams project or something he's somehow involved in?
It would seem like maybe there's a very strong tendency here to keep it all 'in house'. If Heroes is an Abrams project, this might be hinting a bit to his fans 'pssst, go see Beowulf - there'll be more to see than just a good movie '.

I think the only connection is Greg Grunberg, other then that I'm pretty sure it's only a coincidence. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Following the pattern of the first trailer in a way, I could easily see the second trailer being something about Tagruato and it's subsidiaries. I think something like what we saw at the party, where we see something at the beginning that focuses on and elaborates a little on a character, seems to be leading us to something mundane, interrupted by a mysterious and then catastrophic event - the emergence of the monster. Basically instead of seeing Rob being thrown a surprise party, it could be people working on Chuai station, a tanker, even a board meeting at Tagruato - and then somehow our monster interjects itself into the situation. Chances are good when we start seeing this second trailer, we might very well NOT know it's about 1-18-08. There might be a relatively sneaky hint (how much screen time did the Slusho shirt get?), but only when the unmistakeable monster is heard or even when we are just shown the date will we be made aware of the subject of the trailer.
The formula worked before and sparked a surge of interest, it could again. This time of course people will have a LOT more to find when they see it.
That seems logical. I think to revist the slusho 7 or any of the party goers in the next trailer might be spilling too many beans on the actual movie itself or be a case of more of the same. IF Tagruato is in the movie and not just a backstory to our nightly diversions I bet you're right they'd be the focus of the second trailer. Or should I say the trailer and not the teaser. At least in part, maybe with the offshore mining or something. Some tie in with Tagruato's dealings.

Trailer will most likely be on Beowulf, Was reading cloverfield clues about the Third floor and movies they have worked on....which one listed is the only one not in theatres?
The Third Floor's other works include: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Evan Almighty, Beowulf , Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
It has to be Beowulf.

Beowulf seems a good candidate aside from the length of time it
would have to support interest...consider:
The 2nd trailer would be on youtube Nov. 15 around 4 o'clock and we'd
have it completely dissected and analyzed in the spectrometer by the
time the it was officially released on the 16th, less than 12 hours later.
No matter what, we'd be bored searching it for cluez and onto looking for
noobs to flame by Thanksgiving and digesting our naturally tryptophan
laced turkey parallel to our speculations...
and that's no way to spend a holiday.
Any good reasons why it couldn't be Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street .
Seems like a good candidate...it's bound to have decent numbers, at the least;
and it should prove to entertain a nice blend of mainstream movie goerz,
as well as a cult flick following of sorts, in the process.
Johnny Depp does that to movies (from Fear & Loathing --> POTC, the list goes on).
With the given timeframe, it seems like their best shot at marketing
towards the mixes of masses.
Dreamworks SKG's release date's set for 12-21-07 if I remember
right...puts it on track for the 3-4 weeks out theorists.

The 3-4 week lead might be off, Myspace is promoting on their main page already for "I Am Legend". That opens I believe Dec 7th, Thats 7 weeks from this friday.

Good point Dalphx - although it is a Will Smith flick, which are always
inundated with advertising galore...
I still wanna see Sweeney Todd.
The 3-4 week lead lends a lil' bit more time to the viral experience.
The Alernate Reality Viral may continue to eat up some of the slack created
by the overall absence of long term mainstream advertising techniques.
Seems like the moment they get aggressive enough with the advertising
and promote 1-18 on the "front page", and switch to, or compete with,
mainstream advertising, the alternate reality is over.
The curtain is pulled so to speak...

I Am Legend opens December 14th. That still makes it a 7 weeks from this Friday.
I haven't see the MySpace page, but two new trailers were released yesterday for I Am Legend.
If they wait to release the new Cloverfield trailer until it's seven week to go, we should see it around Nov 30th.
