From Cloverfield Clues

The Canadian news site www.canoe.ca has a story about 22 year old Canadian actress Jessica Lucas, who plays Lily Ford.

Tonight on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Lucas will continue her four-episode arc as Ronnie Lake, a sought-after young hot-shot investigator.

Just prior to taping her CSI arc, however, Lucas spent several months working on the Abrams movie which has been dubbed Cloverfield in common parlance, but whose name has not officially been revealed. Abrams is the creator of TV series Lost, Alias and Felicity, and was the director of Mission Impossible III.

First publicized prior to theatre screenings of Transformers, Cloverfield is scheduled to be released on Jan. 18, 2008. Plot rumours have centred on monsters attacking New York City, but Lucas wouldn't shed any light on the specifics. You know, sworn to secrecy and all that.

"It really is kind of crazy, isn't it?" Lucas said of the Cloverfield buzz. "The hype has been unbelievable. And it doesn't even have a name yet. The trailer created such a stir.

"When they first explained to us what they were going to do in terms of marketing, it sounded pretty weird. But obviously it has worked. And there are going to be more trailers coming out very soon, so that will give people even more reason to get excited."

Lucas plans to spend the next couple of months helping to promote the movie.

"The CSI thing just wrapped up so I'm going to have a little bit of down time right now, although it won't be for long," said Lucas, who splits her time between Los Angeles and Vancouver. "We already are planning all the promotion we're going to be doing for Cloverfield, or whatever you want to call it. So that's going to be my focus."

Notice how she said "trailers", not trailer

Could this be a mistake or will we get more than one?

I wonder what they have in store for us? Sounds like more than the typical press tour stuff.

probably more myspace stuff...thats the only thing they could really do apart from more trailers w/ clips exploring the background story of the movie.

I think there will be more than that. We already have the teasing of a competition from the Slusho! site.

Maybe a design your own monster competition.
What about a large Slusho! product release party in NY and/or L.A.
Raffle or other type competition for your own Slusho! machine.(yeah yeah somewhat repetitive form first statement Very Happy )
OR an actual ARG? Bang Head Mr. Green

Any other ideas? Idea

I wonder how much detail "they" (Abrams?) told the cast about for the marketing of the movie?

 		I would assume they would have been told quite alot as it would influence the decision of these actors to take or pass on the part. If they didn't tell them about it and, hypothtically kept it all viral. The actors might have been upset, and had grounds for complaint/suit(highly unlikely) because they did not get the face time on talk shows, red carpets, etc for their up and coming careers. Also she does say it sounded kinda weird at first so I assume she has an idea what is ogign on and how it is supposed to progress. I mean obviously Jamie's char knows quite abit as she has to "star" in all the vids on jamieandteddy.com.

What other types of promotions wold people like to see?

I bet more character interaction...she could possibly pop up on a Jamie video or see her in an as yet undiscovered site...oh the possibilities are endless!

I'm hoping she appears in a Jamie video, its always filmed in Jamies bed. Maybe some wine, lights dim..dressed in....you get the idea!

 		keep in mind, if lucas said that shes focusing on the promotion, that means that she's actually going to be involved, so she's not talking about new website, or myspace. i'm thinking either jamie&teddy-esque videos or-- and how cool would this be-- in-character public appearances...
