Avarice...

The She-wolf in Canto I of the Inferno also symbolizes Avarice.

looking into names, or maybe that's it...
Also found the following
**EDIT**
Quote:
As Dante and Virgil move forward into the Fourth Circle where the prodigals and the miserly are punished, Plutus, the god of wealth appears and gets shouted down by Virgil, as the "cursed wolf of Hell" (Canto 7, l. 9). This description correlates Plutus and the desire for wealth with insatiate hunger of the wolf. Encountering the prodigals and the misers who "could not judge with moderation when it came to spending" (ll. 41-42), Virgil observes that they have "barking voices" (l. 43). Obsession with wealth becomes an attribute of the devouring, perversity of the wolf as those who cannot act with moderation begins to sound like a wolf.

I have found where "Dante" appears:
Lets take the groups Dmax did using the dots:

dmax wrote:

4-15-6-11-5-24

52-51-62-3-22-20
41-7-47-13-42-11
21-1-41-31-4-10
8-11-15-31-58- .

OK, now, count the number of letters indicated in one border each time clockwise:

4 in upper line -> d
15 in right line -> a
6 in lower line -> n
11 in left line -> t
5 in upper line -> e

Note: Last letter in upper line must be counted as first letter in right line and so on

Now, I can't come up with the rest of the words Sad

Neither can I. Maybe there is a different way to put the numbers in the grid rather than filling them in from left to right on every row? We now know that the first row is correct as left->right, but do we enter the rest of the numbers in a zig zag pattern? As in left->right, right->left, left->right, etc.? Or do we put them in like a spiral? I'm with dmax on that 01 looking odd anyways.

So I've tried find "fourth" using this system using our existing grid and can't come up with it. (I'm doing it backwards, finding each letter and using the number)

If we start on the...

bottom the numbers would be 15 4 21 10 8 15
right the numbers would be 4 12 2 18 11 4
left the numbers would be 7 15 25 11 11 8
top the numbers would be 6 22 10 3 20 5

I don't see these strings anywhere in the large string of numbers on the manuscript page.

Confused

EDIT: I have also been trying to add 26 to each number to check the higher numbers

How are you managing the numbers greater tha 26?
There are two possibilities: counting in the same line until you get the
number you look for, or pass to the following line when you go thru 26...

I'm getting confused now with all of the manuscript pages in one thread. Do I have this right?

The Vates page gave us the truthhaven site.

The Primoris page is unsolved.

The Veritas page lead us to the doctorilluminatus site.

The Optatio page which gave us...

Chasing The Wish
This is a story of another universe, not entirely ready within until now, all people and all creatures within are roused.

Because each WishSpeaker's story is in a different language
The Wish Transforms the Heart
and the Heart Transforms the Stones.

Nine in Number
Gateway to Truth

Did this lead to anything else?

I didn't solve the puzzle for the last manuscript page, but I asked tp about plutus which is the name of the wolf from Dante's Fourth Circle. I took her hint; Dante, Fourth Circle, Wolf, and find.

And

Great job enaxor and Varin!

Note that on the contact page:
Quote:
Plutus Wolf

For what it's worth, here is the last known contact names and addresses for " plutus wolf "

AIM: plutuswolf

E-mail: plutuswolfSPLATnetscape.net

I've added plutuswolf to my AIM list, cause I think we may see him around soon.

BTW, even though the update page shows a stone, the stones page (http://www.smalldene.com/sm.html) still shows the dimmed stone, unlike last night when grumpyboy found the stone on doctorilluminatus and the stones page immediately updated.

Shelina, it was your conversation with TP and finding the word "Dante" that got me thinking in the right direction. So you deserve the thanks and thanks to monkeypants for posting the name Plutus.

Maybe that's why we don't really know who has the stone 'cuase it dissappeared from the safe box?
