Nothing complicated about a girl being able to appreciate the more.... nummy qualities about certain men, alive or dead. But I digress...

Another movie I liked:
Minority Report.

It's all a matter of taste, I suppose. Brad Pitt is pretty for instance, but I don't find him really *that* attractive. Leonardo DiCaprio looks like a perennial twelve-year-old to me, and I think Patrick Stewart is sexy.

Nothing confusing about that. As for dead... there are lots of now deceased fellows who have left a legacy of film where they are forever handsome. Yul in King & I; sorry, but HOT. Extremely virile looking. Eye candy.

Sorry if I don't drool over what convention thinks I should... Personally; 80% of the stars and celebs the media adores look like a bunch of plastic-fantastic momma's boys to me.

Children of Men was superb! The realism incorporated into the violence was disturbing and somewhat shocking. I felt empathy for the characters because of those sequences. One of the best films of the year.

any chance you can explain the movie The Fountain to me? I had no clue what was going on in that one.

"The protagonist is Kevin Parson, a twenty-eight-year-old seminary student who one day receives a unique call on his cell phone while driving. The man on the other end identifies himself as Slater, and tells Kevin that he has precisely three minutes to confess his sin to the world or his car will explode. What follows is a cat and mouse game with Kevin, his childhood friend Samantha Sheer, and FBI agent Jennifer Peters struggling to keep up with the clues Slater sends their way; clues that lead to the most horrific events. Throughout all of this, Kevin, Slater, and Samantha find that they are connected more closely than any of them would have imagined."
EXCELLENT MOVIE, EXCELLENT TWIST.

The whole assault on the refugee camp sequence was jaw-droppingly beautifully filmed. Seriously, one of the greatest pieces of cinematography I've *ever* seen (curious -- I had this same discussion with Rob Hawkins a few weeks ago... Wink )

And the way that, in the middle of this all-out war going on around them, EVERYBODY suddenly stops and stares in open-mouthed silence when they realize that Kee is carrying an actual child, the last hope for humanity...and the crowd reverently parts to allow them to pass...

...and then goes right back to blowing the hell out of each other after they're gone.

Wow. One of the most sublime moments in cinematic history -- makes you go from this uplifting feeling of optimism and faith in the brotherhood of man one moment, only to have that feeling come mercilessly crashing back down when you see them start killing each other again.

If that scene doesn't break your heart, *no* scene in a movie will.
