sheesh... I tried that as the key... with the asterisks... just figured out that the decoder I was using still ignored the *'s rather than taking them as a blank spot. converted all the*'z to Z's, and her are the results:

Re: Ashden chronicles
archive

DeadbyDawn wrote:
The .txt files on the Ashden Chronicles page are binary first, then vigenere with "easy to guess" as the key. The asterisk's are causing me fits because they dont decode. But, if you go to 3.txt it has enough letters before an asterisk to see that this is the correct code. I'll do my best to see if I can figure the rest out. Perhaps someone with a little more vigenere experience can get it faster?

DAMN
you just got in before me Sad

"the keyword is easy to guess"
how did we know we had to take it literally? Wink

lmaoo

okay, just need to translate them all I guess.

I edited No 10 with gaps etc, but there is no need for the others to be done, I don't think. They are irrelevant and time consuming Smile

and because I'm lazy...
(the captial letters are where Z's were placed over the *'s to correct the decoding - these are special non-alphabet characters; periods, commas, apostrophes, etc)

Speculation

Well, I'm going to come out and say it. Perhaps the local bridge club is SWAN. A good way to test for psychic abilities? Anyway, I guess it would be appropriate to email for the details on the tournament.

thats a good theory. but I'm also drawn to the e-mail address. it's the only address mentioned in all 12 stories. Maybe we should find out about the area, and ask if he knows about SWAN?

I just sent them an email asking about the tournament, and the Hall itself.

Just un-lurking to say I got Red Triangle, and to comment on how annoying the SWAN Forum is, with its you can't post again anytime too soon after you've posted policy. Rolling Eyes

SWAN

Yah that drives me CRAZY. I'm so not posting a 'good deed'. It feels like bragging, and it makes me want to post vulgar things to be funny.
