I am pretty sure there is an intern assigned to this board. Everybody knows that if you want to de-bunk, de-materialize, de-struct and de-vorce, you do it on Unforums!

God I friggin love UF. I just wish she would clean the bathroom and cook up some wavy gravy!

Well then let me offer this open letter to BadRobot

To Whom it may concern,

We are very bored. It is now Halloween and we need some excitement. Don't take a long, satisfying, two week dump on your core fan base. Give us something.

Thank you in advance,

The UF Crew

This is not a constructive thread - PM posting is not allowed on this forum during the duration of the game, unforums are out of game, and as Duckie says it's in the TOS.

The relevant section below:

TOS wrote:

Rules and Guidelines for Puppetmasters

Users who are directly involved in the creation or maintenance of any Alternate Reality Game (whether in the role of Puppetmaster or in a Behind-The-Scenes position) are welcome to post as themselves in appropriate context, but not within a forum thread or section in which their game is being discussed. The only exception to this rule is when the game has reached a finite conclusion or ending, where people involved directly with the game are then welcome to discuss their game openly. If you are uncertain as to the appropriateness of a post in a thread or section devoted to your game, please contact a forum administrator or moderator. We will be happy to discuss the matter with you.

There are other forums that don't have this rule in place where PMs can, if they feel the need to, interact directly with players. It's so simple to set up a forum that why would they want to post here anyway - they could make their own and have more control, such as those in Eldritch Errors or Perplex City (two quite different examples of forum use in ARGs)

This thread isn't really about PM posting though is it? Please don't start finger-pointing.

So CRAZY obviously read and followed the TOS?

I think this is a very constructive thread. I honestly do not think that PM's even remotely give a darn about the TOS. "CRAZY" popped in here, vomited out a complex 9 character password, said it took 5 minutes to crack, discovered a non-indexed site and never posted again. Now thats following the TOS?

We are being played. Perhaps that is the modus of the game, to play the players.

The whole Teddy and Jamie thing really pisses me off. We spend hours tracing, tracking, looking and researching. The UF crew would have eventually discovered the site and maybe would have figured out the password (not likely though). Instead all of our work is course corrected by posters like CRAZY.

I don't know if they have anyone posting here, but what I'd love to see, maybe as a bonus feature on the eventual DVD release of the movie, would be a video of Abrams and/or any of the puppet masters having a discussion on their experience of seeing the fans go through this ARG.

You might for example hear them say things like "Oh, we couldn't believe the stuff these people dug into. I remember all the discussions over the temperature shown in the graphic of the newscast in the trailer. Ha! People took that and just ran with it. They were making up all kinds of crazy theories about how the monster was caused by global warming, or that it was giving off heat or something as the reason for why it was 63 F in New York in the winter. We were laughing our butts off! If they only knew! Hell, the temperature just happened to be the temperature outside the production office in California one night in May when we were working on the trailer. We never really thought about what it would mean at the time, much less that people would take that random number and go crazy with it. I mean, yea, we did put a lot of little clues and references in there, but some things were just random. These people are intense!"

Hearing their take on things would be fascinating somewhere down the road.

I think that would be a novel idea! In fact bad robot could do a whole documentary on this ARG but at some point. Imagine how much fun they could have with the now infamous "its a Lion" quote. Not to mention all the other dead ends. I would love to see how they constructed this game and what they thought as it unfolded. Also how it might have affected the movie....

Rose maybe you or another admin. can answer this. Is it usual practice for the Pms to come to the forums after the ARG is over and discuss the game. That would be cool if the Pms did that.
We could verify it was them if we sent in wierd OOG passwords for them through Slusho and they come back on their post with all these passwords to prove it's the PMs.

You don't quite have your history right. The site was found by "one of us" first (Nenya). Only the password was solved by CrazyOver11808. It would have never guessed it, but I think it is possible someone else could have guessed it right away. That's the power of the hive.

If they did step in and give us the password, I don't blame them. I think at that point we were almost two weeks behind in finding the site - Teddy mentioned in MySpace Aug 31, but J&T.com wasn't found until Sep 12.

From the Puppetmaster rules:

Quote:
... once you've posted your initial clue, stop posting about it. I look the other way for trailhead posts... But let me encourage you to try to find some other way to launch your game. If you really can't think of any way besides dropping a blatant link or clue on the forums, feel free to contact one of the forum admins ... We'll be completely discreet and post it as an anonymous tip for you

Sure. Why not? CrazyOver11808 joined the same day they posted, had only 1 post, and never posted again.

Nenya joined on Aug 3 (coincidentally, the same day as me), and has 22 posts since, with the latest only a week ago.

Worst Job in the WOrld...

Analyzing our stupid conversation, speculation and reiteration about such things as a sqiudy/fishy faced man monster and/or a blonde sorwhority girls webcam. Then turning around for a daily report in a board meeting on marketing feedback and forecasting turnout based on Lil's rack and its appeal.

i would rather wash a walrus's ass for purposes of sustaining endangered species via artificial insemination.

love you guys and all, but if your not playing this game and KNOW WHATS goin on, it would be like.... FOCK WHY DONT THEY SEE THIS TAGRUATO SITE, FOCKIT, ill shoot them a CONSTIPATED ASIAN COOK PIC with JAPANESE ON THE BACK, WHICH WILL SHOOT THEM TO MY VERNON MACDOOBLE, which will lead these "headless chickens" where they are supposed to go
