[TROUT]Helpful Clue (is Beowulf related?) Perhaps this could be a hint of some sort... Ok, I'm new to this, and I don't know if this has been thought about before, but... assuming the "comingsoon.com" mentioned is correct...
Beowulf release date: 11-16-07
Cloverfield release date:1-18-08
11+2=13. But in months... 1
16+2=18.
And 7+1=8. or 08.
221... could this mean something??
Perhaps a code?
Maybe something happened on the date 2-2-01...

i don't mean to sound cynical.. but according to this logic anything could be tied to 1-18-08..
like no matter what the release date was.. you could add random numbers to get 1-18-08.. and abrams and co. likely had no control over the release date of beowulf..
they'd really have to be flying by the seats of their respective pants for this to be anything..

oh, come on. you don't get it? +2 +2 +1 makes 221 duh!! I'm just saying maybe it's a clue!
Oh, and there was a post back farther in the topics that gave a website saying that the new cloverfield trailer would show on Beowulf. I just thought that the dates looked similar, so i used my imagination. Also, Paramount is the company associated with both movies.

[TROUT?] Somebody's been stocking the lake again, haven't they?
The idea of the trailer being before Beowulf was suggested a long, long time ago . Even before I thought it had been.

Sorry Euchre, but I think this time you can keep the fish. He's not saying there will be a trailer in Beowulf. He's saying that since there is going to ba a trailer there, we should compare the two release dates and see if there is a clue in the numbers.
And sorry Feef, but I don't think that makes much sense. They wouldn't choose a release date for Beowulf just to give us a clue for Cloverfield. Even if they did, it would be something that obscure and obtuse.
EDIT: BTW, we don't know if there will be a trailer on beowulf. That's just a rumor.

Yes, I know they couldn't control the release date of Beowulf, but they WERE able to control the release date of Cloverfield, maybe to make and important number.

Okay, let me have a try:
1-18-08
2 ones
2 eights
1 zero
Hmm... So if I take 11 and 88, that make sit 99... then add zero, and it's still 99. Now that we have 99, we multiply it by 221; and you get 21879; which could be 2-18-79
well... the only notable event I could find in 40 seconds of random googling brings me:
February 18, 1979 - The Sahara Desert experiences snow for 30 minutes.
So this may be a clue; weird weather pattern!
That's it. A strange weather pattern may be what attacks New York! A weather event that's alive and sentient; a living Katrina!
OMG I figured it out!

I'll give it a shot
1+18+8=27
27 is one more than the amount of letters there are in the alphabet
there are letters in the alphabet
this sentence right now is made of letters
"This thread is really really really stupid" is a sentence.
I've cracked the code...

Uh...no, I...I don't get it. Unless I'm overlooking something, 221 has no significance in this ARG whatsoever. And I really doubt that Paramount would release this big-budget blockbuster to coincide with the ARG of this little $30 million borderline-independent headtrip movie that the Lost guy is making for January.
