[QUESTION] What was that? Was it a trailer on A&E?
I only heard the famous roar. I missed the rest!

OK, either I have lost my friggin mind or the trailer was just on A&E. The TV was on that channel. I heard no other dialogue except the roar and the famous ching ching of the statues head. At this time I am hauling ass up from the basement, bust my chops coming through the door to the living room and missed it completely. 9:02 or so Pacific.

WTF? Anybody else watching A&E? I think it was Criss Angel Mindfreak and now CSI is on.

Come on somebody tell me I have not lost my mind. All I remember hearing is a commercial then :20 or so seconds of music, high impact adventure sounding music, the roar, the whizzing of the statue head and then quiet for a sec (I am busting ass to get into the living room) and bam, it was on a different commercial.

Original post there deleted.
Not seeing anyone claim to have it recorded yet, and uh...
A&E?
Isn't that a bit like advertising McDonald's at a vegetarian convention?

They do salads, y'know...

What is A&E? Is that a cable TV station in the US? Because it sounds stupid that they would advertise on cable.

A&E is short for Arts and Entertainment channel, which is a bit more 'cultured' of a channel on cable. Cable in the US now basically far outstrips broadcast TV in many ways. Most people now receive their 'broadcast' stations via cable or satellite anyway.

Paramount is part of Viacom. Viacom owns a bunch of cable channel as well CBS. MTV, Nick Jr (see Dora the Explores Post), Comedy Central and SpikeTV are the biggest Networks but not A&E. Ads should start on these Networks after 11-16-07

Just FYI:

"A&E Television Networks (AETN) is a joint venture of The Hearst Corporation, ABC, Inc. and NBC Universal."

Did anyone happen to even see it?

I agree with sonckrinde... It doesnt make sense that the first commercial appears on A&E...

even though A&E is NBC owned, I'd say premeire something during a show like Heroes for a better demographic and larger audience...

Although I wouldnt throw it on MTV anytime soon, I would think than stations like A&E, History, National Geographic, etc would be the last place to put a movie trailer commercial for something as anticipated as Cloverfield... (not saying that the commercial shows anything new, but just that it shows anything at all is a weird move)

As yet I don't see any feverish activity on this thread of people uploading it to YouTube, screenshots, and secondary sightings. If there was a commercial in such a relatively odd and less than spectacular placement, I'd expect to have been seeing and hearing more of it by now.

New posters with stunning news...

Where have we seen this lead before?

Well, I did do a little checking yesterday...
Tuesday night was all CSI Miami from 7pm to 10pm Pacific. Before that was Cold Case Files. ( See here )
Criss Angel Mindfreak followed CSI.

I also noticed the poster says it happened 'about' 9:02 pm and they managed to get back downstairs to the computer and post by 9:08 pm.

See my previous post.
Draw your own conclusions.

Yet another silly attention seeker?

(Sigh) Honestly, I've given up on this. I've come to the conclusion that it's not really a game... just viral marketing. Which is cool, in its own way, just not worthy of time spent chasing it. Oh well.

I'll get excited again when I'm in my seat on 01-18-08. And isn't that saying a lot for this marketing effort?

I don't think you understood the last statement there. If it had been shown in such an off venue as A&E I would expect it to start showing up again and on other channels (where more of us might have seen it).
