Thanks for waiting so patiently, I was away and have bronchitis. I have narrowed this down and hope to post results by no later than Friday morning. Right now I am looking at more than one winner. I think I will have 3 or 4 total.

The night wears on. As I stare at the wall, fleeting glimpses of past lives flash from the corners of my eyes...from the very corners of my existence (oh, but you who have never loved!). And I wonder, what Gods in their general synod decreed this to be Haiku, and not free-verse prose? I lay in wait from my lair made of man's bones and dreams (all the same in their frailty)...hoping but always denied...
