Pali's Past Time

So, I got an email.

Quote:
Hi there!

How are you?

It's Pali here.

You probably don't know who I am. That's ok. I don't know who you are either. That doesn't mean we can't be friends.

I should explain myself – I am emailing random addresses on the internet, out of boredom mostly, but also because I really want to talk to someone outside the centre.

So, in the interest in widening both our spheres of experience, you're welcome to reply to me.

In fact, I would recommend it. And if you know anyone who might want to get in contact with me, give them my email too.

To give us something to talk about, our give you a rundown of what's happening in the room I'm in, at the moment.

Nics is plating my hair, while I'm typing. I don't really like it plated, but I let her do it anyway, because it keeps her entertained.

Kite is trying to design an aircraft, and he keeps muttering something about thrust.

Tom A is reading again, something even more boring than before, about how bicycles are better than cars.

Dengo isn't here at the moment, but he's going to come later.

And me, naturally, am seeking human contact by email.

So, feel free to tell me what you think of all of this, and reply.

Thanks!

Pali

Subject has TINAG capitalised in it. Hmm.

(note: hope this isn't a Trout didn't have time to check)

I got an email from Pali too
Edt/Subject Pali's Past Time (ThIs is raNdom, but Also interestinG)(i think)
Quote:
Bonjour, Nihao, Guten Tag, Konichiwa, Ciao.

Hello!

It's Pali here.

I don't know who you are, or where you're from, so I'm trying to cater for all nationalities.

You don't know me either.

That's because I've just randomly decided to email you, so I can talk to someone outside the centre.

And you should reply. And tell anyone you know who might like to email me also to reply.

In case you want to know the person you don't know's real life world, I will tell you what's going on in the room I'm in at the moment.

Tom A is reading a really boring book about the environment. I don't find the environment that interesting (but don't tell any of the others I said that!)

Nics is trying to make her bed covers stay on her bed.

Kite is eating a tomato.

Dengo isn't here right now, but I have it on *cough* good authority that he's coming later.

And me, well I'm on a computer, emailing you.

So, reply then! (Come on, I tried so hard for you.)

Thanks!

Pali.

They must have been sent at different times because everyone is doing different things in mine than they are in yours. Smile

Sorry, here ya go pali.is.cat.aSPLATgmail.com

Edit/I sent a reply and got this back

Thank you so much for replying!

The centre is just where EMA head quarters are located, where I live. Yeah, there are five of us here, well four, but when Dengo is here then it's five. But those five people, plus the tutors, is practically everyone I speak to. It's weird living you life knowing there are 6.3 billion people in the world, but you'll probably only ever speak to like... a few hundred of them.

I love cats! You have more than one? You're so lucky. We don't have any pets in here, but when I was little, and living with my Mum and Dad, we used to have a kitten. It's name was Rodge. I remember playing with it. It's probably all grown up now...

Hey, I've got an idea! I like puzzles, and I make them up in my spare time, to amuse myself, because it can get pretty boring here. I've been looking for someone to try them out on other than mega-genius Kite, and none of the other cat. As can be bothered with them. Do you want to give them a go? Oh... wait, there has to be a prize, that makes it more fun. They will lead.... to my web blog. So you can find out more about me. What do you say?
Or we can just chat, if you want...

Thanks so much for existing!

Pali

Another one:

Quote:
Ok, I'm nicknaming you "Question Man" from this moment forth.
So, Question Man, I shall answer your questions. (You are lucky this time.)

E-M-A - Environmental Management Agency. A big global organisation, which makes sure everyone uses the diminishing resources of this world in the right way.

ME!
I like to... make puzzles, and I like to read. I also like talking to people. I think out of all the cat. As, I'm the most social.

Who are my friends? The same people is everyone else! Kite, Nics, Dengo, and Tom A. We're all cat. As, except for Dengo, who's an U.P.T (don't ask me what that is, because I don't know, I just know he is one.) And we all live together, except for Dengo.

Why are we living in the centre? We are training to take over EMA (although, it will be a few years before that happens), so it's best if we live in the centre, and get used to the way things work around here. Also, that means that we're close by for classes and things.

That's all.

Say, since you like questions, maybe you like puzzles? As I said, I like to make puzzles, but I never have anyone to try them out on. What do you say...?

I thought I might have enough clues to find the blog, but Pali said this -

Quote:
Oh no, I haven't given you the puzzles yet! That's really funny! No they're like traditional puzzles, like the kind you find in magazines and stuff.
I wish I were clever enough to have given you the clues already.
Although that's not a bad idea for a future puzzle!
There's three puzzles you have to solve to find my blog. Shall I send you the first one?

Oh, and EMA stands fot the environmental management agency.

I asked for the first puzzle, there is a grid in the email that I can't copy paste.
Quote:
Ok, here's the first puzzle.
(If you think you need a hint, just look at the clues again, and see.)

This puzzle is about everyone who lives in my room with me, and also Dengo (even though he doesn't sleep with us most of the time).

1. Kite (who doesn't like prawns best) and the one of us who likes Omelette best take up the last two beds.

2. Tom A doesn't like Omelette or Nachos best.

3. Nics doesn't have black hair.

4. The one of us who likes Omelette best doesn't have dark brown hair.

5. The one of us who likes prawns best doesn't sleep in bed 5.

6. I (Pali) don't sleep in bed 3, but I sleep in a bed with a number more than the person who has light brown hair.

7. The one of us who has red hair doesn't sleep in bed number 5

8. The one of us who sleeps in bed 2 has blonde hair.

And you also need to know:

- There are five beds

- Our favourite foods are Pizza, Prawns, Spaghetti, Nachos, and Omelette

- Our hair colours are Light Brown, Dark Brown, Black, Blonde, and Red

Put it in this grid:

Now, your final answer is the fifth letter of Nics' hair colour, the fifth letter of my favourite food, and the third letter of Dengo's favourite food. Send me this and the grid, and if it's right, you can have the next puzzle.

Isn't this fun? ; ).

I can forward the email to anyone that wants to see the grid. You can post your email address here or give it to me in PM.

I am not good at this kind of puzzle. I think Pali sleeps in bed 5, but I'm not even sure about that one. Confused

Ha Ha! That's alright.
It's great that you want to do my puzzle!
I've lived in lots of places, since when I lived with my parents, we moved around quite a bit. Everywhere from Australia to the US.
EMA is really different though, it's almost like a not place... It's weird to try and compare it to anywhere else.
EMA basically manages resources on a global level, because they're becoming more and more scarce.
Hope you do my puzzle, and like it!

I guess I prefer New Jersey to New York. How about you? Have you lived anywhere else? If so, do you prefer the EMA or the other place? And what does the Environmental Agency do?

the Environmental Management Agency. And I'm there because I'm supposed to be learning about how to run it (with the other cat. As)

Do you like New Jersey better than New York? It's hard finding a good place to live, or so I've read. Everywhere has its own particular characteristics, and there's bound to be something that disagrees with you. Still, where you are is where you are. I like it here, anyway, despite everything.

On Mon, Dec 29, 2008 at 5:47 PM, Gregory Zilberg <zolosamurai> wrote:

I've also lived in New York. I have to say both are pretty bad. New jersey is boring, and you can't get anywhere by yourself. New York is violent, and nobody there likes what I do.

Hi Greg!
Wow, this is great. I never thought anybody would actually get their friends to mail me.
You live in New Jersey? I've never been there.
Right now, I live in the EMA centre. Which is a long way from New Jersey, but I'm not really supposed to say exactly where.
Thanks for emailing me!
Pali.
