[SL] Two of Spades (2S)
Musings on 2S crest image on myspace

Hi everyone;

Seeing as I'm new, I know this may be the catch of the day when it comes to a trout - BUT I have to start somewhere!

The 2S has several photos posted, one being a shield with a very Christian slogan in latin "Caritas Christi Urget Nos" - "Christs love urges us".

A quick google shows that this slogan is widely used, but I managed to find the original image!!!!

Its in German, and a quick translation shows that the image is The coat of arms of the Alexianer Bruedergemeinschaft is divided into three fields. The upper half shows the pelican, which feeds its boys with heart blood - a symbol for the Christian love on red underground. The two spades on the black background in the left lower half are a memory of earlier working of the Alexianer Bruedergemeinschaft with the funeral of the dead ones. The flying raven with the bread loaf in its bill on silver-grey background symbol light the supply of the without means ones; a work that the community practiced over centuries. Over the coat of arms the cross rises up up, pointing out that in the cross alone the welfare is. A volume around the coat of arms carries the words of the Apostel Paul.

Anyways, lots of interesting bits there, especially the symbolism about the 2 of spades Smile
