He has our watch...?

Does anyone have any idea what this might mean?

It's right there...

Quote:

The patterns. The patting. Wait a second...

You leap to your feet, leaving the cold concrete beneath. Reality feels like a frigid breeze as you realize that the person you just let borrow your lighter also helped himself to your watch. Your eyes catch a shadow moving in the opposite direction a little way off. As it stops under a streetlight and is illuminated momentarily, you see the thief look back in disbelief, as he realizes his crime has been revealed. His eyes flicker, almost appearing to be lit by some kind of small flame behind them. An extremely mischevious grin makes its way across his face for a moment before he turns and runs...

Time is my most hated philosophical discussion. I find it to be so trite considering how long the discussion has been taking place. I will, however, agree with the idea that if you don't know how to tell time there is no time. Tell a child to sit in time-out for 5 minutes - they have no concept of what that means.

oh, c'mon lisa, time is a mental heuristic no different from any other linguistic exercise of perception. don't be such a ninny. Razz

I know, you are right. I just have this deep, dark, cold place in my heart for philosophical discussions regarding time. Practical discussions regarding time, however, are wonderful. For example, I still do not fully understand daylight savings time and its use in modern society. Another topic of confusion is the state of Indiana and how they have three time zones in one state. Well, it is actually two time zones and an area that never changes; why do they get to never change? Debates such as these are much better than "the meaning of time" bull that is usually the discussion regarding time when done philosophically.

If you can find that out, find out why Arizona doesn't change either.

Well, actually, the Navajo Indian Reservation changes, but the rest of Arizona doesn't. It's kind of weird, but it makes sense, since the Reservation is technically a sovereign nation.
