I think the odds are much higher actually. Euchre made this point earlier that three are a lot more people following this ARG/E then most realize. Not just Unfiction (although the best), but there are other fan sites with ongoing discussions and following the progress of this experience.

Also, take into account it had been over 3 weeks since the last update (also a Jamie&Teddy video), the amount of OOG sites, gamejacks created and I can easily see a few people getting together and plan a quick game jack while waiting for the next update (remember the two guys from the U.K. who did a prank about new 1-18-08 posters on bus stops in a couple of towns in England?)

I don't do My Space, but I've viewed the page and its pretty basic...how long does it take to create a My Space Account...15 minutes? Near as I can tell it was a little over 4 hours from the first post (on this topic) until someone found the My Space account. As for the music...I bet he/they got lucky and found the song first and decided to create an account around the song.

Bottom line, no legit site was created on the same day of an update...they've been up in advance waiting to be discovered. Some have said the PM's have been sloppy and maybe forgot to get it up and running before the video was posted, but although the overall pacing has been erratic, I've not noticed any glaring errors by the PM's when it comes to the placement of the clue/update and subsequent "discovered" website.

One thing we can do is try to decipher the lyrics, it may give us a clue to the "cause" or something important.

Has anyone tried playing the video in reverse? When she says 'cause' those few times, might bring out another word when heard backwards? Or somewhere else in the videos for that matter. Might be a dead end though. I want to try, but I do not have the right programs make it play in sound form backwards. Has anyone else thought about this?

Oh, hi. I'm new.

we could ask theglasshelmets myspace for the lyrics, if they are what they seem to be then they should be able to provide one

Name that tune!
(fact nothwithstanding that we have a name)

Has anyone tried Pandora.com for the song? they have a huge library of little known, unknown and indie music. I am unable to use the site because im not living in the states..so i don't know if it will be any help.

I just checked last.fm and I'm definitely the first person to have scrobbled the band name... not that that means anything.

This doesn't quite jive with the rest of the game for a number of reasons I'll talk about in a second here.
BUT, for those of you saying that its a gamejack, you have to accept:

(1) The PMs of this game stole music from a real metal band, then told us they were named something else.
(2) That band WAS popular enough that, within four hours, someone identified the song, set up a fake myspace and fake review, and illegally uploaded the song as their own.
(3) Despite the fact that ONE person was able to recognize the song within four hours, the song is paradoxically not popular enough that ANYONE else on the internet can identify it in two days.

I guess the only other alternative is that someone was musically talented enough to record the whole thing, by ear, in four hours... erm.

Anyway, my theory right now: at least one person who is involved in the writer's guild was involved behind the curtain for this game.

Jamie could easily have filmed every single teddy video on one day a few months ago. Heck, it makes MORE sense that she would do that instead of tying the actress down at the studio.

So, they've got all of Jamie's videos, a vague idea of where the game is going... and a skeleton team to make sure it all gets out.

I feel like they might have planned something bigger with the glass helmets, but the due date for posting her video came up with no one to work on the fake band, so they posted a last second effort.

Or maybe I'm just being a PM appologist for the subpar gameplay. Rolling Eyes

Again as I've pointed out before, we here at unFiction have not found it. We are not everyone else on the internet, not even everyone following this viral campaign. Considering that there are at least 2-3 more forums just about this movie and campaign, and several movie sites with forums also hosting threads about it, we might only be maybe 1/5 of the people following it. I get the impression that many cinema buff sites' forum members have a poor view of ARG players, and wouldn't have a concurrent membership here. Even with the potential of that number of people, there are millions and millions of people on the internet, and quite probably a million that are aware of this campaign. Someone aware and wanting to toy with the followers of the campaign could know about this song and have this perfect opportunity to use it to have their fun.
Point remains, we here at uF are not The Internet.

That is possible, but if they wanted to crank them out that fast I wouldn't expect the background set to make the changes we've seen. If they did make the videos in one day of shooting, then every change we've seen in the background props would likely serve a purpose. We thus far are not aware of that being the case.

True, but Google does a decent job of searching the Internet, and the only references I see regarding this band are from this forum here at Unfiction, and a few of the other "Cloverfield" fan sites. And none of them have anyone declaring 'Aha! The song is actually "whatever" by "the whoevers"!' Until someone can identify the music as a previously released song that was merely recognized and then used by gamejackers, I will remain firmly unsure about this Myspace page. Or until some other comment or evidence on the page clearly verifies that it's IG.

The problem with this "arg" is they are not good about cross-validating new information.

For example, when Tagruato.jp came out, there were Slusho references, but no Tagruato references on Slusho site. Eventually (two weeks later), they added the Distribution page to Slusho with Tagruato references.

This is the same problem BoldFutura.jp suffers. If it was real, it would be easy enough to point to it from the Tagruato subsidiary page.

If the song was important, the easiest way to clear this up would be for Jamie to change her MySpace music to "the glass helmets" or whoever they are.

Of course, they haven't done any MySpace updates in over a month, which makes me wonder why they would start a new MySpace page if they are not keeping the existing pages up to date...

Okay, I didn't mean to imply quite that. But it is a bit of hyperbole to represent that we are a fairly substantial group-mind, with a fairly diverse background. Jamieandteddy password serves as a case in point. It would have taken me alone a VERY long time to work out the password, but get enough people together and something will work out.
Yes, I understand the difference between us working to crack a password and us recognizing a song, but I can't believe that no one friendly to these boards listens to a fair amount of metal.

And, we're STILL assuming that the 1-18-08 guys ripped off the song from an actual band.

I dunno. Doesn't that kind of assume that someone's actually LIVING on that set? Or are you implying that they take it down and reassemble it every time they want to make a movie? IF they indeed have been filming them separately, over time, that still implies their little set remains static anytime the actors aren't around.

Still, if I was in charge of this, it'd be a lot less of a headache to get it all done in one go than to call up the actress. Someone should check if her hair is getting longer or if she has different acne some days.

Well, I listen to quite a lot of metal. Im searching through my music now to see if I can find either the song, or a band that sounds similar. So far, nothing.

The song itself, sounds like it has influences from black metal.

I've heard of that site before... where did it come from? Why would you think it is connected?

I found it in this thread.

I know I haven't posted before, lol but I guess you can call me a lurker because I find this interesting to read but guess I'm too scared to post because some of you guys are really hard core and I'm not Smile

I guess my point of research that has gotten me nowhere is akaparallax.com just watching it being updated. Found the link on another site and it was the only one I bookmarked to check the status of the site from time to time. I was interested because the person said they found it on the same server as the jamie and teddy site. LINK...

Yeah I posted this some time back. I still think that this is part of it no matter what anyone tells me. It was pointed out to me on another site that M71 and M72 are also drilling platforms. Here are the songs I know:

1. Hands Remix - Midnight in a Perfect World - DJ Shadow
2. Chemical Remix - Unknown
3. Alliance Remix M72 (Drilling Platform) - Unknown
4. FPSO Remix (Floating Production Storage Offloading) - Unknown
5. IODP Remix (Integrated Ocean Drilling Program) Listen to 04:25 - Unknown
6. M71 House Remix (Drilling Platform) - Murder in the Big House - Chagall Guevara
7. OPA Remix (Oil Pollution Act) - Every Little Thing Counts - Janus Stark
8. DOE Remix (Department of Energy) - Aftertaste - Helmet
9. JSE Remix (Johannesburg Stock Exchange? Job Search Engine?) - Easy Living? - Miles Davis?

You have to wonder if that is not one of those "Production" music pieces that are used quite often in radio stations and game design. It would amost be untraceable at that point and impossible to pin point.
