Phrases like that are never funny in a Mythos game Wink

Update: OK, I mailed smithy with info on the co-ordinates, although forgot to mention anything about LAM. TBH, the less he knows about that, the better, perhaps. Ho ho ho.

This is likely a literal "tiny url" as in at www.tinyurl.com . Decrypting the numbers is likely what needs to be put at the end of the URL to be redirected to the true page.

Seems to be a web design company out of MS so no luck there.

I'm not sure what to make of all the tiny text though, reading through it it's obvious enough what it is, and there is nothing interesting about the source of the page.

The directory /other/ shows a few games and some images but nothing appears to be special about any of it other than it's all from this pigment studios. Which seems to be unrelated all together.

I'm thinking we need to keep looking for tinyurls.

ETA: My best guess is that the string should be dealt with in groups of 3
Code:
295 298 356 356 299 354
as opposed to groups of 2
Code:
29 52 98 35 63 56 29 93 54
and the "key" will give us an ASCII shift or summuch that'll resolve to something we can use such as Hex, Octal or Decimal we can get 6 characters from.

That's a possibility, but then Jon Jones' message says it's "a Tiny URL to find", not "Tiny URLs". Besides, he's "just" a parrallel track : let us not forget that Smithy is still on the way to Flagstaaf and/or in the process of looking for the post office where the "gift" might be.

But every idea is worth investigating Smile

Just woken up to find a whole bunch of new photos over at the flickr stream - smithy found a box of Tattleson's old stuff, with photos of AC and HPB and stuff. There's also a letter from Jordan. I mailed Jordan yesterday after finding his/her response here, so maybe they'll show up here some time.

Odd things I've noticed...

1. The text that makes up the alien is obviously perl, but munged in such a way to make it unrunnable (spaces have been removed). The alien seems to pop up all over the net, so I'm guessing it's an old Internet thing, and that the alien is more important than the code.

2. Smithy posted Jon Jones' letter to his Flickr stream yesterday, but now it's gone.

3. Jon Jones second message in this thread, with a slightly different number, leads to an invalid tinyurl id if decrypted with the same key (which I'm assuming is:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
10003?
)

Does anyone want to get on the holy (holy grail -> e-mail, s'cockney innit?) and let smithy know what we know about LAM? Sounds like he's behind in that particular aspect.

JWP and creepy letter quote

The picture of JWP and the letter quote seem to lead us to John Whiteside Pa
rsons, also known as Jack, who seems to have died a suspicious death.
He could be the Jack in the letter.

Ron could be L.Ron Hubbard, he and Jack had a ritual named Babalon working to summon a goddess?

Anyway (hope this works) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Parsons

Yep, that's Parsons alright, as confirmed here - good work, samsar.

So everything's pointing to JWP and LRHubbard re-creating AC's LAM-summoning (with bad results, portal opening, etc), and Tettleson being a kind of "bystander" that somehow got more involved somehow. The LAM note could be from JWP or LRH, or might be from Tettleson himself.

So far, this is making sense Mr. Green

Update: A quick bit of Googling shows that the letter quote is from Parsons' essay, "Freedom is a Two-Edged Sword". It's a bit turgid, but you can read it here (scroll down for a link to the start):
