I'm not familiar with myspace music. Does the download link usually wind up giving you just part of the song repeated? I was trying to listen to the downloaded versions and they're just snippets of the songs repeated, where as the songs play out in their entirety on the page. Is that normal?

This is the comment tag for the green force, by the way

000009DB 000007A4 0000551C 00008942 0001F13E 0000C84E 00007B73 00007D44 0000A687 0000656D; 00000000 00000210 00000B10 000000000082FE60 00000000 005EFCBD 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000

seems like an odd thing to leave in the comments, with no other tag info. But maybe logic pro does that? (edit its clearly Hex encoding, but it doesn't decode to anything useful in ascii) (but in Unicode ... different story, many prove to be Japanese [i think] characters)

Those hex strings are some sort of artifact of the encoding software used. I think that's either iTunes that does that usually, but I can't recall.

Yeah they're Itunes normalization and gapless info tags. But they are corrupt. In so much as they don't register in itunes. I'm curious... here are the characters i was able to pull out of them so far:

唜襂졎筳組敭; 苾 廼 for the first track (the one in Jamie's video) unnamed in its ID3 tag, but identified as The Green Force on myspace.

杬 投 諬 蟣 ; 憒 For Ockems Razor

Might be nothing. Might just be a coincidence. But Japanese Chinese (and perhaps Korean) characters in the volume normalization tag? Dunno. Just trying to run down angles. I suppose it could be a coincidence.

ED : I figured out the weird repeating file biz. My download accelerator put it together strangely.

The tag info is the same. I think there is something goofy here and am curious. Sorry if I'm annoying you all.

DOH! I'm such an ugly American. it appears to be Chinese. I went here to try to get some translations. http://www.xuezhongwen.net/chindict/chindict.php

Here's what I've found. Pretty crazy if its just a coincidence, eh?

唜襂졎筳組敭; 苾 廼
--
唜 undefined
襂 undefined
졎 undefined (not Chinese? I think Korean)
筳 feast
組 class; section, department
敭 scatter, spread; praise; raise
苾 smell, fragrance, aroma
廼 then, thereupon, only then

杬 投 諬 蟣 ; 憒
--
杬 undefined
投 throw, cast, fling, pitch; jump
諬 to open to begin to explain to inform a letter
蟣 louse eggs, nits
憒 confused, troubled, muddle-headed

Add one last bit: ޤ
Dunno but that but it turns up in Google searches.

Now thats interesting...

Look, it is obvious that Jamie's strip song and the Green Force are the same thing.

Listen to the Green Force and i still can't believe how someone would have ripped a part of the song ( since it's not the complete song ) and make a totally clean and complete version of it...

If that was some act of some production, i think that page would have been shut down a long time ago, since they're so secretive about things. They wouldnt have let that happen.

besides its clearly not punk of course, i think its more a way to tell how Jamie isnt too clever about things ( including "non-partying" music she can't dig...) and that she just did that to please the guy...

Edit : and the website isnt a dead godaddy page but is registered thru Domains by Proxy...Could be worse, as we're still working on the tidowave.com which is registered the same way...

and another thing : the only way this could be OOG is that the song was available somewhere else the same day jamie's video was posted, or if the song isnt original, that someone who's in the ARG knew the band and recognized the song and went to make a myspace page the a few hours atfer with a full fake review...Someone who would be into Hyperion and all that....

I'm sick to hell of Jamie and her stupid videos that offer pretty much nothing. I hope the present is a baby Grumpypants. He's been asleep for three months and now it's time to wake up and eat the dumb blonde who won't even be in the movie.

And isn't even that cute.

Teddy's probably just dodging her. "Yeah, I got this long trip I have to go on.....I'll talk to you later, peace out..."

Useless.

Wait, cornbread! That's it! The answer to all of this! Cornbread + Bladder Infection - Glass Helmets =

I'm not 100% sold on these chinese characters being anything other than a fluke born of using hex strings. Even the filenames beak down into perfect hex pairs. And even groups of 8.

Maybe myspace automatically renames files for upload to some sort of random string. You think that if it did, that string would quickly convert back to an ascii name or a time stamp.

The best info I can find about these itunes tags suggest that these tags were edited after itunes made them. The norm tag is supposed to be 5 pairs of hex values. Its clearly not. Ockem's razor has a cddb id tag. But the cddb doesn't show an album of this name.

I'm almost 100% sure that there is hidden information in these tags. I'm just not seeming to be able to unlock it. I don't see how its possible for someone to have faked that song. There was some dude back there who said it would be easy, in classic 'netaddichio.

I can't find any other myspace music pages that allow downloading to check the weird filenames. And I can't shake the inclusion of only a broken tag in a file. I'm going to put down all the alleys i investigated here, so someone else can spot a decoding step I might not have thought of.
Sorry if this is to awful to bear:

She DOESN'T say "Punk's hard to strip to", she says "The/This song's hard to strip to."

Well that's definitely something. IG?

Edit: Here's the blog entry.

Rally Show Cancelled

We were really looking forward to seeing you guys at the Tidowave rally next week but we had to cancel our set. There's been an accident within the band and we are currently recovering, both physically and emotionally. That's all the info we can give out at this time. Thanks to all of you who sent cards and well-wishes.

Know that this will not in any way affect the release of our next single, "Arbiter of Digressions". We're super proud of it and can't wait for your reactions. Keep checking the site for more updates!

Just because they mention an IG site doesn't mean they are IG. Not to mention there is still debate going on in the TIDOWave thread as to the IG/OOG-ness of TIDOWave (Save that debate for there though).
There has to be a path TO the site in order for it to be IG, not a path FROM it. If a known in-game site mentions the Glass Helmets' myspace, then we have some confirmation that it's IG.
I'm not saying that it for sure OOG though, just that atm we don't really have any hard evidence to suggest that this isn't a gamejack.

Okay well the main proof is the existence of the trailer song, which is solid enough for me. If not, well thats another song, so make sure you can find metal head who could tell you whose band it is...but in the meantime...

This is frustrating... uF rushes to get their names on possible IG sites is killing some of the credibility Sad

Umm.. Why is that people think that anything about this game is arbitrary? Yea, maybe she refers to The Glass Helmets, a band noone has ever heard of for no reason, but what would be the point? There is obviously some sort of significance in that band. And why would it be too much for them to ask of us to check MySpace for an in-game page? It isn't like that has ever happened before. Seven times. I dunno, I know a lot of you have been doing this ARG thing a lot longer than me, and maybe I'm just naive, but it seems to me that someone creating a MySpace page, writing a song, and buying a domain name (with impeccable timing) is a lot harder to believe then it just being part of the game. And for the striptease song, it is fairly unbelievable to me that they re-performed it or increased the quality of the one from the video.

Obviously my vote is that The Glass Helmets MySpace page is IG.

That being said, I'm glad that some of the players in this thread have some faith and have already began investigating the page and the songs with great scrutiny, rather than debating its validity. I think you guys might really be on to something with those altered tags. Why else would that be like that? Especially with the one that says specifically that it was encoded in iTunes... why then would the tags not read in iTunes? I think we should really play around with these hex strings some more... Lets flip them backwards and upside-down and see if we can't get some sort of meaning out of them. I like where you're going with the Chinese/Japanese translation, I wish I knew one of the languages so I could help out more... I'll talk to my buddies.

We totally need to see whats in those files indeed...im unable to go further a certain point im afraid when it comes to hex encoding and stuff...

But did anyone else than me see that Ennio Morricone tag ? I found some info about some real life Hyperion Orchestra who played some Ennio Morricone tunes, but that was it...

The Hyperion and Morricone references might just be shoutouts from JJ Abrams. I'm thinking the hex code contains something more important. Either with Chinese characters or there might be some way we need to alter the numbers? Flip them around or something.. That kinda stuff was really big in parts of the lost experience I think.
