RE: Trailer before Beowulf

I'm not gonna summarize the thread, but it actually seems legit. Check it out.
Kudos to bouellet82381.

From the post:

According to Paramount Progress, Paramount's exhibitor relations website, the new "Cloverfield" trailer is shipping with Beowulf. However, it is not attached. Sweeney Todd is the attached trailer, "Cloverfield" is being shipped as a seperate trailer enclosed in the Beowulf cans.

There is no title for the trailer, just "JJ Abrams Film" Trailer #2, showing a runtime of 2:11, tagged NYR (not yet rated) and a release date of 1-18-07, which appears to be a typo on their end.

Paramount requests that "Cloverfield" be placed on all prints of Beowulf, though it is at the discretion of theatres whether or not to place it. I'd assume most theater chains will place it.

[EDIT]
JJ Abrams Trailer #2, along with Sweeney Todd, apparantly will be in the digital DTS format, encoded on the DTS discs that ship with Beowulf. Which leads me to believe all theatre chains will be running the new trailer. But check your local cinema to be sure, theatre management should be able to tell you

.
.
.

See the below cut & paste from Paramount Progress (Screens to follow when available!)

-----------------------------------------------

Paramount Pictures is requesting the following placement for
November 16 and 17. Please see the attached for further details:

SWEENEY TODD - Trailer #1 (2:28 12/21/07 R) - Attached.
Beowulf
JJ ABRAMS FILM - Trailer #2 (2:11 1/18/07 NYR) - Enclosed.
Beowulf
SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES - Trailer #1 (2:02 2/15/07 PG) - ONLY WITH IMAX PRINTS!
Beowulf*

* Circuit Specific Trailer Placement.

(taken from http://www.paramountprogress.com/members/materials.php)

* * * * *

All of the above is the original IMDB post. The thread continues on with a discussion of the legitimacy of the info.

the whois for paramountprogress.com states that that site was last updated on October 24th. We could've known this before Halloween!

oh, and cloverfield is an optional trailer for beowulf. the theaters don't have to play it.

none of those movies were "attached" to beowolf as far as Kraker and anyone who believes him ( i for one) is concerned, looks like a trailer for Tinman the scifi tv mini series to me. need more info tho cause I dont know what Sweeny Todd is, for all i know it was the uncles name that played the tinman in the origional WoOZ.

do you *really* think that an OZ movie falls into *any* of those IMDB possibilities?

nor do I (IMDB is a great rescorce after a movie is released)sp (i saw it , the typo, but i dont know how to spell rescorce, looks right to me?!?!?)

I think the Tin man promos were shown, no doubt(in my mind), and doesnt fall into anything IMDB calls as truth.

Still stand by possible TV preview of "Tinman" till I hear from Kraker.

Sweeney Todd is an old gothic horror tale. He was known as the Demon Barber of Fleet Street (London). He cut the throats of customers and made them into meat pies.

That's the bare-bones plot. The Sweeney Todd movie is based on the Stephen Sondheim musical based on the old gothic horror tale. It's directed by Tim Burton, and Johnny Depp is playing Benjamin Barker, aka Sweeney Todd, who is wrongfully jailed by the envious Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman), and, while in jail, the judge rapes and (I think) kills his wife and child (or something). Barker gets out of jail 14 years later, hellbent on revenge, and takes on the name Sweeney Todd and starts a barber-shop over a pie shop run by Mrs. Lovette (Helena Bonham Carter). He then slits the throats of all of his customers, whom Mrs. Lovette turns into meat pies, which sell like hot cakes - all with the aim of claiming the ultimate victim, Judge Turpin. It's gonna be awesome, and, along with Cloverfield, one of the movies of the summer.
