I wonder why everyone else has wounds just like marlena but only she is the one who starts vomiting blood.

Oh and dont you think its funny how the actress who plays beth, odette yustman, appears in transformers which was the movie that premiered the cloverfield trailer?

Perhaps Marlena was the only one infected by something. The others could have gotten their wounds from something else, or just avoided whatever type of wound causes Marlena's condition. More questions...

Uh, large objects being thrown around causing buildings to shatter and collapse, glass being blown out of windows...
No idea where anyone would get scratches and cuts that could in such a dirty and rough condition appear to be much like scratches from claws or teeth...

Are you sure...it was Megan Fox who played the female lead, not Odette Yustman.

In the scene where shia is running with the cube and falls, the mountain dew machine and xbox come alive. Then it goes to a shot of the girl in the escalade saying something like did he just dent my car?

thats Odette yustman.

This explains that insider Kens' picture.
It kinda looks like Hud is helping to pull/push it out of her chest in another picture of the same scene.

Kind of stupid of me not to notice before, but who's supposed to be holding the camera in that still (pic 9)? Or some of the other stills, for that matter? Does this rule out the notion that the film's going to be hand-held style?

In all likelihood they are production stills taken for promotional or other purposes, not taken from video. Doesn't rule anything out.

This is the one thing that is making me think Huds' footage might be cut with what "really" happened high quality camera footage. It could be Hud filming outside the curtain filming Marlena explode but we also see what is on the other side of the curtain. So I'm betting on Huds' footage mixed with traditional film to show what was happening. Hope that makes sense.

That's what I was thinking, but doing a scene purely for promotion on a budget like this seems to be kind of pushing it. Besides, most of the promotion so far has been quiet/underground, with the Beowulf trailer coming without much fanfare besides from Blogs. Would they still want to do a traditional promo campaign? It seems more like they're trying curb promo costs now, doing their advertising in house or online. Thanks anyway for the quick reply though, MrToasty.

I think this is what I'm leaning towards now. Thanks Red Walrus.

In the scenes where Hud is visible and participating in the current situation, I'd guess he sets the camera down and it's still filming, so the scenes like the one with the injured Beth might be shown from the awkard, "set the cam on the table and left it running" perspective.

That's my point that I'm not explaining too well (It's getting late). Maybe Hud is filming outside the curtain when Marlena explodes and we also see what is happening on the other side of the curtain at that exact moment (by the look on Rob's face). These could be production stills but they are very detailed if all we see is from the outside of the curtain.

God, I hope so. I have a picture in my head of the cool effect used in The Matrix when Neo was held in a room for questioning by the Agents, where you start the shot by seeing a video cam view of the interrogation room on a monitor, then the view moved through the monitor and right into the room itself. Not sure how the continuity would work, but that's JJA's problem.

Another possibility for that scene in particular is this: Hud and crew follow a sick Marlena into the makeshift "hospital", and then she starts to convulse, and maybe bulge (whatever), at which point they are whisked to the other side of the curtain, where Hud films a gruesome silhouette of Marlena popping like a stuck mosquito (or whatever the trailer suggests). This could be done with only the Hud footage, and would keep in line with the notion of the whole "film" being captured on the Hud Cam.

I just had a thought: What if Greg Grunberg is a military person charged with documenting the disaster, and the film opens with him popping in the tape for review? 90 minutes later, we see him pop the tape out and put it in a crate with other evidence marked for permanent storage, ala Raiders of the Lost Ark? Laughing I think I need some sleep...

lol, here are some good quotes from the interview:

BB: What are some of the more ridiculous speculations?

LC: There's all this YouTube stuff about analyzing the trailer. People are seeing things that aren't there and making up stuff that isn't true. There's this one still of me and Jessica Lucas, who's another actress in the film, and people thought there was some crazy lion behind us. But people are wrong.

BB: Have the paparazzi been diligent about trying to get on set?

LC: There have been a few instances. The movie has gone though a bunch of different, strange names so that people don't catch on. At one point, the title was Chocolate Outrage.

LOL!

she even said that JJ was soooo serious about leaking, that he colored the scripts red and water-marked the actors name onto it, so the will know who leaked it!
