Indeed, even from the earliest captures of this footage I noticed that there were repeatedly these odd bright looking 'sprites' in the images, usually descending. Upon seeing the last and best possible version available of the footage, it's clear that's paper floating down. It's very reminiscent of the paper floating down after the attacks on the Twin Towers. Eery, for something happening in NYC, and I'm sure something they remembered and thought would help make the texture of the movie more realistic.

ok i have another rant here there are some really good and really fuckin dumb ideas on here
first lets tackle the whole SOL is the monster thing thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard in my life are u serious? first of all it should have ended when one guy on here stated that the SOL is still standing there while the city is damaged secondly its a statue how can a statue move seriously unless you are looking for a cheesy B rated movie here. DROP THAT!! its stupid!!!
then someone stated that maybe in the pic i posted that rob is trying to keep the door shut on something or someone 2 good directions there one is there are little monsters or there trying to keep out the military from taking them out cause there infected thats something id keep digging at
3rd heres a good point i made last night on one of these threads is that did anyone think here that when jj abrams made this movie he planned all the hype surrounding it the viral marketing that he said it was gonna be and INSANE monster now you can go in so many directions on making a monster and many many movies have but if you look at the part where the monster dodges behind the building when the military are firing at it did you ever think thats just the bottom of its leg moving i mean if the monster was that big that would be INSANE to me and if you look its kinda looks like a foot dragging behind the building. Just check it out let me know if im crazy here anyway ill be back i gotta go do 4 more hours of investigating and analyzing

Agreed...I've seen the HD trailer 3 times this weekend (my theater is playing Beowulf on a couple of HD screens so I've wandered from one showing to the next) and its definitely paper falling from the tipped over building...9/11 first came to my mind.

Also, there are no bodies I can see in the horse drawn carriage at the end of the trailer...there was some question in other threads if there was a body in the carriage...its pretty clear that its empty (just thought I'd throw that in Very Happy )

Yea I did what you did and theater hopped. It looks like a step into the carriage.

Yeah I thought it was fireflies but it's definitely paper. There's also like a flaming building leaning on another one.

Heh, he wasn't really hating on it... but I agree with his point, seeing as the statue is seen headless in the trailer it's pretty safe to assume it hasn't become manipulated by some monster inside it.

Although, that'd be an interested in-world explanation for why the statue has been closed for all this time since 9/11, however I agree that I'd be a little weirded out and disappointed to see it being manipulated by a monster that grew inside of it. Razz
