[SPEC] Finally..the story revealed!!!
Revelation - The White Horse....This has to be it!!

If anyone is familiar with the story of Revelation in the New Testament, it should not come as a shock to you that this movie is based entirely on a biblical platform. Revelation 13 begins with the story of the Beast out of the Sea: "And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name..." (Rev. 13:1) The beast becomes a controlling force of "all the nations..."
In Revelation 17, we see that this same beast with a woman riding upon its back--an intoxicated adulteror (Jamie, perhaps?). "Why are you astonished? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides, which has the seven heads and ten horns"(Rev. 17:7). This woman comes to symbolize "the great city that rules over the kings of the earth" (Rev. 17:1Cool
Interestingly, verse 18 is where the story of this "great city" unfolds. This city, while called Babylon, is a direct symbol of New York. The city has fallen to adultery(swinger status on MySpace profiles), drunkeness (Slusho), plague (parasites), even death. The verse describes this city as a great merchant city (again, New York) in which the people have become rich through her wealth and mourn the destruction of it. The verse even provides a timeline for the ruin of the city ("In one day her plages will overtake her" Rev. 18:8----18-08???).
So, now to the white horse. Revelation 19, "After this"--the next day, no doubt (1-19-0Cool redemption comes: voices are heard proclaiming "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns"...."I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True" Rev. 19:11.
Just a coincidence...I doubt it. Read for yourselves

I doubt it but that would be awesome. This would probably be the best(Most Expensive) biblical movie of all time. I'm a Christian but Christian movies tend to suck most of the time.

That's most certainly an awesome connection, although I don't think it means that much.

You might wanna chill and wait and see - the white horse (I assume you're riffing off of the carriage in the trailer) is symbolic in a lot of religions and I couldn't say that it's the Rosetta Stone of the trailer.

Christianity itself interprets the white horse of the apocalypse widely, yes - from symbolizing bloodless conquest, to the horse of the Antichrist, to the horse Jesus himself rides at the end. Death rides the pale horse, which is often depicted as whitish, though frequently dim tints of green as well, depending on the translation.

However - a virtually identical version of the symbolism is available in Hinduism, where Kalki, the final Vishnu avatar, brings about the world's rebirth and destruction as he rides forth on a white horse.

I can, and frequently do (but I'm full of crap), suggest that most bits of Western theological symbolism pulled from the scraps of Cloverfield info are easily interpretable by Eastern standards as well. It's a bit risky at this point to take any one piece of information and extrapolate a theory onto it, swearing it as, well, gospel.

I doubt it, though it is a nice connection. JJ doesn't strike me as the uber-religious-symbolic type, though.

...Yeah, unfortunately, though, LOST disagrees with you there. Yes, the last few seasons are mostly in the hands of other people, but there was as much Buddhist/Catholic/Hindu/Pop culture symbolism going on when Abrams was a lot more hands on as there is now.

He may not be doing a religious epic, like, say, Last Temptation or anything, but he's rather likely to play around with symbolism anyway.

Yeah, Reeves did direct it and Goddard wrote it, but the basic concept of the film all came from Mr. Abram's twisted brain. I believe he has more infulence on this film than your average film producer.

There are a countless number of works that allude to the Bible--both religiously and non-religiously based. Biblical allusions are the most prominent in art/literature/cinema.

Look at the text, look at the numbers, and decide for yourself.

I should probably reword my comment. I don't think he's going to go uber-crazy on religious symbolism, though there will be stuff there, as Lost has shown.

I don't think that that's the whole story of the film. Though I do believe that the white horses are symbolic, obviously.
