I was wondering if the only reason for the second it's alive comment was only to dispel the crazy 'it's a lion' debates.

What it was actually just a big lion, i mean, is there a zoo somewhere near there? Maybe it's like a just because they said it's huge could mean 'it's bigger than me!' or something. Just sayin

no matter how you look at it, the SoL as a monster would suck

It's like Ghostbusters 2 gone bad. Maybe the river of goo was slusho.

LMAO, swimming in slusho. Tho knowing NYC, God only knows what kind of green slimey substances are oozing beneath those streets.

Okay to be fair and not offend New Yorkers, my town of Orlando is getting prettty shitty and dirty too. so who am i to say anything

Regarding the "it's alive" comments...

I think everyone is forgetting that this movie is not being presented as a classic monster movie. In a classic monster movie, everyone knows that a monster is attacking - that fact is not mulled over; people know it and they move on. THIS movie, though, is being presented as something real, so the characters will react as a person might actually react in a major crisis. And, here's the thing: imagine you are in NYC and suddenly there's explosions and alarms and people screaming - you would NOT think, "oh, must be a monster attack." And, even after people ran past yelling, "it's alive! it's huge!" you STILL probably wouldn't think, "oh, must be a monster attacking the city." Unless you saw it yourself, you'd never believe anyone who told you a monster was attacking - you'd think they were nuts. And, even if you did see it yourself, you might still be wondering what's REALLY going on, i.e., you wouldn't believe your own eyes.

The "it's alive! it's huge!" line in the first trailer makes sense because nobody would think that something big and alive (i.e., monster) was attacking the city; they'd all think it was terrorists or something political, but never a MONSTER. I mean, c'mon. When Hud or Hawk tells Rob "it's alive" in the ruined store, it's easy enough to imagine Rob not totally buying the reports of a monster attacking. Again - who would?!

So, give the writers and actors some leeway here, is all I'm sayin'.

Word.

I can't believe this is still a subject of contention.
