Please, please no. The game (and the graphics) on N64 were bad enough. Making a movie is just...well, you get my drift. Confused
And you know where game movies go, straight down the sewage system.

a picture of a toilet

If you know what I mean.

You know, as a sidenote, I love this movie, it's marketing is huge, and has SO many people thinking, both in mainstream media and in places such as uF. As a film student, I think this movie is gonna be revolutionary.

Back on topic...

Smoke does billow and move in a manner that can be perceived as organic motion. I'm with Evil on this one, in that it might still be the monster, but that we'll have to wait for the HD trailer for confirmation. There is just too much noise, too few frames, and simply not enough detail to be sure of what it actually is.

The biggest problem to overcome in analyzing this content is the nature of the mind itself to register the "familiar" in what we see. I'm sure at least someone reading this post is familiar with the classic pasttime of cloud watching. Clouds, smoke, all form organic shapes which your mind attempts to process. The unfamiliarity and fluidity of their motion across the sky offers the chance of numerous familiar objects "appearing" at some point. The big problem we are facing is that we are looking for a monster, and as such we will find a monster where the chance exists.

Now that I've stated everything, I do believe this to a shot of "the monster." The biggest identifier in this appears to be a portion of fluid cyclical motion as depicted in one of the previous shots, where such would not normally occur in this manner of smoke. The texture also stands out, but this could very well turn out to simply be an artifact of the "Camera" and the bootlegging combining with youtube's third level of compression and noise.

the HD trailer will most most certainly confirm or discount this as soon as the scene can be isolated and stabilized again.

(On another note...some people are really overthinking this ARG. It really doesn't seem to be as intricate as so many are making it out to be. Overthinking just adds another layer of obfuscation to the already muddy pool of information. Remember, KISS--Keep It Simple, Stupid. And Evil, thanks for offering a well-sourced voice of reason :p)

Euchre was getting steamed up about thesmoke thing, he wants to believe he is seeing a monster, just as some of us want to believe we are seeing smoke.

To use the CHUD description however to support any theory, is not sound logic, the CHUD guy saw it TWICE with a pen and paper, we have been stop-framing, enhancing, gamma adding, cut and pasting, you know what I'm saying.

Also, JJ is, IMO, taking great pleasure from our wild goose chase.
We cannot find anything that hasn't been put there, thats not some deep philosophical thinking, it's a fact. Every frame, every sound, every CGI pixel, is part of the building hype.

Hollywood became the force that it is by never showing us the monster 'til the third reel! It aint going to be in this teaser, not in HD, not nowhere, you gotta Queue and pay your money if you want to see it, aned I'm not convinced that we will see it even then, maybe explosions, distant roars, consequences of its actions, corner of ones eye glimpses, but remember the gag of this movie is that it is from the POV of a small number of witnesses. If you were a sane witness would you be trying to get near the thing or recording what you could from a sensible distance?

Before anyone points it out I do understand that movies are make-believe, the impossible is possible and that if the dumb kids didn't go into the spooky house we wouldn't have Scooby Doo.

Sorry for ranting Rolling Eyes

Gee, putting words in my mouth and totally misunderstanding my demeanor, aren't we?
I've not said it's absolutely 'the monster', and without the HD trailer to work from we're nowhere near able to be sure either way. If you think I was defending the monster between the building idea based on Devin Faraci's article, you missed something there...

People are pointing out that everything is as Devin Faraci reported it was in the trailer:

We see the big monster briefly passing between two buildings. I couldn't make it out at all, but it appeared to be HUGE.

He says it's a monster, it has to be - right?

He also said little monsters were attacking a woman in the silhouette scene, not guys in biohazard suits trying to hold onto a wildly convulsive woman about to explode.

/sarcasm

See that last bit? Sarcasm.
Notice I also pointed out that Faraci was indeed quite apparently wrong about other details - as is so often the case with these rumors the source proves to be less than 100% accurate, even when much of what they have to tell us is the truth.

Take a breath now, have a cookie. Very Happy

From the pictures, (im about to watch the actual trailer now) it certainly does look like its something. Im still not 100% sure, but it really does look like something, I just cant tell what. Possibly a tenticle.

Heh, I'll admit, I thought it was smoke, but I no longer think so. I am very surprised they put any image of the monster in the trailer. However, I also think there is much less of the monster there then some people are saying. I think the only definitive image is the "appendage" (tentacle, back of head, whatever) at the top of the frame. The movement before you get a clear shot of that appendage is unfocused, but there may be a leg there.

There have been some solid game movies made... Silent Hill comes to mind.

I was trying to figure out why I couldn't play any of the damn trailers. (sound was working fine, but the video was just colorful speckles). Finally got a look at it, and most of what people are still claiming to see still looks like smoke, but I gotta admit, I'm seeing one thing rather clearly in one frame, and it doesn't look to me like what people have been claiming.

At the top of the scene, that curvy thing that people have said is the head or back of the head or a tentacle? Looks an awful lot like a claw!
