I think this puzzle may have something to do with keyboard positions.

Not only are all of those symbols on the top row, keys look sort of like steps (step by step).

Ideas?

I think the first step is to decode the alpha - ignore the rest for the time being but keep it in the right place. Then we look for what could be words. Like A=I etc...
Next step is to convert the characters to numbers. Now the harsh part...
Convert the numbers to alpha by way of telephone code. Note that there are no 1's anywhere (or !). Unfortunately if you try to do this step first there's WAY too many possibilities.

I tried running the alpha through unilateral substitution using "seeker" as the key but no luck.

The other thing I thought was the new "codes" they've been using on the two riddle sites (net and planet). Once you decode the text, you have to read up and down the lines in some way. It's a longshot but thought I'd throw in the suggestion for good measure.
Anyway, I'm off to bed...My pocket hurts.

more on..

Different symbols, some letters some not. What if we can transform it all to numbers and work our way from there. I like the keyboard idea but cannot make anything out of it.

So that you know I also tried the same trick on my cellphone and comes up with a series of numbers 10039 804..and so on but it seems like deadend since I don´t have * and ^. Maybe on another brand or on american phones or something...

ASCII decimal gives
65 32 37 64 100 119 32 118 37 103 32 37 36 122 32 42 114 99 109 122 64 32 0
86 120 32 120 120 64 103 122 32 112 120 118 32 115 97 32 94 38 121 94 98 0
87 38 116 32 115 97 32 112 98 37 108 32 119 42 99 99

Oct gives:
101 040 045 100 144 167 040 166 045 147 040 045 044 172 040 052 162 103 115 172 100 040
126 170 040 170 170 140 147 172 040 160 170 166 040 163 141 176 046 171 136 142
127 046 164 040 163 141 040 172 142 045 154 040 167 052 143 143
130 040 166 100 167 040 162 144 163 136 107 040 043 144 165 055 162
88 32 118 64 119 32 114 100 115 94 103 32 35 100 117 45 114 46

Not sure about that this leads anywhere though. The capital letters in the beginnings of each row seems to be there for a reason. So does the spaces (except the last one in the first row)

I prefer the "keyboard" idea...
Maybe counting the position of the key where ecah symbol is?

I was going to try that when I realized that european and American keyboards are a bit different... Razz

If it is "steps" on the keyboard like spec'd then I'm out - I have an ergo keyboard. That means it's split in the middle. So I'm having a tough time placing the letters in the middle. What I did though so far was "A" for example could be q, z, or w - this steps the letter BOTH ways diagonally. The only problem with this is that it's a one letter word so unless it's a number, it should be A or I. The next word "%@dw" could be rdxtgb, wsxq, ecrx, and sxa. So the only word that closely fits that pattern is "twer" and it's unlikely that people still say that (it's slang for past tense of it was" That's why I thought it went the other way - decode alpha first then insert phone code for the numbers.

I'm not very good at this but our email before this one had 4 different ROT's for each line.
So using "step by step", what if line 1 decoded, steps to the next line and so forth. What I'm trying to say is each line is a "step" in it's self. The 4 lines won't use the same decoding.

Am I making sense? (this time Very Happy )

Another thought....The only thing is they don't work in the other lines, unless they aren't supposed to.

This kind of looks like a cryptogram I try to solve in puzzle magazines. Here's some ideas for line 3: (no rhyme or reason)

W(&)t................... sa........... zb%l........ w*cc
W(ai)t......................is............................. well
W(ha)t...... ................................................will
W(en)t...................................................... call
W(es)t.....................to............ pine..........tree -the trees at Diana's grove are one of the doorways to the Otherworld. So maybe we have to "be" there to help Dale out.
Nevermind for the last one. If the first W is "W", then so would the W in the last word.
Sorry for the dots, only way I know how to line up the "chart".

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but does anyone know what the "rocket ship" is at Diana's Grove Park?

I don't know if this will help but a previous puzzle used 2's and 1's to help us(ya'll) solve it. It was in a post by Danman at the 'Blue initiates' puzzle location. It occurred to me that the new email could be divided that way. For example, 'A' is a 2 because you hit 'shift' and 'a' to make that charecter. If you did the whole first line it would read

2 2211 121 221 211112

This means absolutely nothing to me but I thought some of you heavy hitters might be able to use it. I hope it helps.

Dave
