I found the picture of the monster... It's quite clear too. Hope this hasn't been shown before. If it has, sorry. I don't think the search button would come in much handy for searching for a picture :-\
As you can see, it's a giant metallic fire-breathing turtle with big-eyes.
a post of mine.
We finally have the face of the monster.

Don't laugh too much; what I see looks like the knees and lower body form here only. I don't think it's a Joe Dante gremlin.
The object on the back could be a horn, as above, or a tentacle thrown back like a dreadlock.
There are yellow spot lights on the creature, and yellow light glints on a flat object, perhaps carried by it. (?) Looks like it is moving through buildings as though they are made of ash.

Wizkey....I think you just hit the nail on the head with that one.
Looking at that slow-mo clip of the monster it definitely looks like its pivoting around its left foot/leg (which is planted), brings the right leg up through the building on the left, and is in the process of falling into the next street. I think thats the most clear assessment so far.
And although I hate to say it, from that analysis the monster is really starting to look like a combination of Godzilla/a velociraptor....

it's a shellfish monster. personally i think the monster looks like a mutated crustacean. the armor on its back is segmented kind of like the armor plates on a lobsters body. the part i think we are seeing is definetly the tail end of the creature, not in fact a leg. in the trailer the army is already firing at it for quite some time before the camera shifts over to it. plus it is a narrow street (compared to the size of the creature, and the distance between the buildings.) so the military wouldn't actually fire unless they had a clear shot.

I updated the first post a bit, removed my initial redlining pic of what I thought was only the head... Also added another .gif by Rhesusmonkey that gives a forward-rewind motion for easier scrutinizing.
So, if you just got to this thread and read this post on the tenth page, the first post has pretty much all you need to see so you don't have to dig.

Having done some robotics and judging by the movements of what looks like 2 limbs and the bulk of the body, it is looking like it is definitely not bi-pedal. It is either 4 legged but more likely it has 6 or more legs. The body movement is too fluid for the way those 2 legs (if they are actually legs) move.
Have a look at this robot to see what the movement resembles:

Notice in that clip of film that as the monster moves from left to right, part of it's anatomy is coming into the shot behind the building, but obviously moving from right to left; the opposite direction. Look at the robot's legs, shows the same pattern right? (Please note, I'm not saying the creature is a robot! (Before anyone flames me) It's obviously organic (and a bit fishy?))
I can't decide if it's either:
1) The hind legs of the creature facing to the right and walking forwards
2) The back or front of the creature moving to the right walking crab-like
3) The head of the creature with mandible-type things (the mandibles being what look like legs) moving backwards to the right.
Remember the official poster? The actual hole in the buildings is circular and close to the ground. Therefore something moving that is shaped more turtle-like rather than dinosaur-like on hind legs.
I'm going to be most upset with JJ if it looks anything like a T-Rex!

looks to me like the monster is waling to the right and directly in the middle is is groin.
looks slow moving to me, maybe it is stopping to survey its damage. I imagined it to have them movements of a gecko or other lizard like creature and not an elephant robot

Hmmm the way it moves it kinda looks like it is slithering like a slug or snake. Or maybe a snail?

I also think its similar to the Isopod, and a waterbear.
Keep in mind this isnt going to be a real creature, more likely based on something. Also, using science to reason what it is will be hard. Seeing how having a giant monster like that is impossible anyway.
But looking at the pictures it does look like its a crap/isopod/horizontal creature moving to our right.

Aww.... the more I look at it, it looks much smaller.
In this, I believe you can see almost the full creature ( or a smaller version of it)
there are 2 backwards bending legs like a dinosaur like people have come up with but
this section is its right arm bended against its body (you can see the outlines of the arm in the gif better.) and in the starting of the gif u can see its left arms beginning as the arm is extended with black behind it.
and the bowl is its head not back just the head or the back of its head.
and that would be the whole monster... so small but maybe jumping? which would explain the aircraft view point with the small explosion covering this monster or the monster jumped?
EDIT:+ The monster might be looking at this direction while its head is going behind the structure and that bowl could be the side of its head

yeah, the monster stands on its extra strong hind legs, maybe webbed for fast water travel. These legs accustomed to swimming allows it to jump high or run fast, maybe climb.
reminds me of jurrasic park, how dinosaurs walked on their hind legs.

This is just my opinion, and there is a good chance that I am wrong.
Anyways, the "legs" seem human-like to me. And when the monster walks, it looks as if it is waddling, like almost rocking back and forth when it walks. And when you look at the "head" it looks like there is some kind of liquid pouring off of it.
