Somehow I doubt they'll have an exclusive, especially since they're based in England.

A lot of websites like to tack on "exclusive" to every big news item to make themselves seem bigger than they are.

I'd bet Apple will get the HD trailer first, then these parasites who still claim Blake Lively and Odet Jasmin are in the movie will claim they got it first. Rolling Eyes

Nice find anyway, but I'd check http://www.apple.com/trailers first.

Okay... that wasn't a little bit condescending...

Empire is one of the biggest movie magazines in the business in England and they've pulled quite a few exclusives in their time, I don't believe they'd make such a claim that couldn't be backed up.

If they say they're getting a good quality version of the trailer, then I believe them.

e2c, wait... what? You don't trust them because they're showing one of the caption posters?

I think you guys are being incredibly unfair toward them given the reasons you've given are extremely poor. Choosing one of the caption posters, and being based in England does not make them liars, attention seekers or untrustworthy.

If my calculations are correct, and empire is an english magazine-if the trailer is released 4 pm their time, that mean (at least for us west coasters) that we should get it at 8 am monday morning.

(Been here a loooong time, just reading, keeping up with the movie, decided to recently start posting- HELLO EVERYONE!

why would they want to have the trailer exclusively? - to get attention.
DUH

but whadever, i dont care if they get the trailer or not...if they do within an hour max every other site will have it.

No, really? I thought the main objective of spending money, time and effort on a website was to get hits. Wink

If you follow the link, the pic on the front page is of the SOL head in the street....looks like the souped up one from this most recent trailer (with much more detail added). She's got some wicked gashes on her face...

Actually, YOU'RE the one being condescending. Who are you? Their webmaster? If you bothered to READ my post, you'd see I said A LOT OF, not ALL sites use the "Exclusive" tag to pretend to be bigger than they are. Can you deny that? I never mentioned empireonline.com as trying to be bigger than they are, you made that assumption. Frankly, if you think a website in England is getting an exclusive trailer for an American movie featuring JJA's "Big, Insane, Exclusively American Monster", JJA just sent the U.S. a big ol' F.U.

On top of that, I'm tired of these sites ripping off the hard work of some of the posters on unfiction and other fan sites, so excuse me if I'm a bit grumpy towards them.

If I risk playing the Devil's Advocate by trying to intercept and stop what could potentially be a flame war, so be it. First, Evil - I'm sure you are aware that in this case, saying this - "you'd see I said A LOT OF, not ALL sites use the "Exclusive" tag to pretend to be bigger than they are." - does not, in any way, put you in the clear, because, let's face it, what you implied was what you're fervently denying right now - that Empire were claiming they'd have the 'exclusive' in order to make themselves bigger than they are. You don't get off on a technicality by saying you didn't directly say it, because you quite blatantly implied it, and perception counts for a lot. And for a published magazine that covers the greater parts of Europe and Oceania, they aren't exactly these websites that you're lumping them alongside (also, I'm pretty sure Empire haven't been stealing your works either, so that generalised anger towards them, among others, is kinda misguided - I mean, these guys still think Blake Lively's still in the film, as you pointed out, so it's unlikely they'd be stealing your works).

Though, Kingpin, Evil does have a point in that it's pretty weird that a non-US group will get the exclusive of the HD trailer, and it does amount (somewhat) to a F.U. to America. However, maybe Empire paid for the exclusive, maybe JJ wanted to reach a previously (assumedly) unaware audience, I dunno, but there's no denying, Evil, that Empire probably aren't lying when they say the have the Exclusive - they're a legitimate movie news agency, not "I can't check my facts" AICN.

That is all. Now can we stop bloody fighting and get back to the thing that matters - the Cloverfield? Thank you. Very Happy

EDIT: Just read Euchre's post and that does seem like a pretty solid idea - but, once again, let's try not to be utterly cynical. Whether or not they're getting the trailer exclusively, IT'S STILL THE DAMN HD TRAILER YOU'VE ALL BEEN WANTING, SO LIGHTEN UP. Now that is all.

Um, pardon me but...
If Empire is claiming a release of the trailer at 4 PM local, and that's 8 AM PST where Apple is located...
Doesn't it seem to anyone else that's when the work week starts, and that maybe that's when the people doing the server work will be there to launch said revision of the site? If that's the case and Apple adds the trailer at 8 AM PST, Empire is probably going to be the first to rip it off.
No, I don't hate Britons. I do know that everything movie related is about hype, fansites included. Every trailer posting movie site on the net wants to be the baddest. The only insult I see here is that a movie site is quite possibly trying to insult our intelligence by claiming something outrageous in a deceptive way? Haven't we seen movie sites do this before?

What I was trying to imply was that they are using the "Exclusive" tag to get attention. Smaller sites will do this constantly to get traffic. So, yes, I think Empire is full of crap saying Exclusive. But no, I am not saying they're small. I apologize for not being clear enough. I don't the attack was warranted, but bygones.

By the way, if Empire, being one of the big boys, checks their facts (unlike AICN as you say - now who's being condescending? See, it's easy), why do they list Blake Lively as being in the film, and none of the other missing, credited actors? Not trying to argue, just pointing out that even the big boys aren't always right -- I know I sure as hell am not right all the time, I thought CHUD was full of crap too, but I was wrong. That crow, in the form of an action-packed, grainy trailer, tasted good however. This crow would be a fine dining experience.

I'm so over this minor disagreement. I'll leave it that. Smile
