[SPEC]Something was considered fake, but in fact be real!
Digging up an old report and comparing it with info from trailer #2

Ok, so I saw the new trailer, and to start off with, the dialogue audible in it: "What is that thing? Whatever it is, its winning." sparked my interest as I recall some article from ages ago which was discredited as fake/a hoax. I dug up the article.... it is here:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/33835

So this Merrick guy, or whoever wrote the article, may have got lucky with creating that dialogue:

Marlena: Do you know what that thing is?
Soldier: What ever it is, it's winning.
{trailer transcript from cloverfieldclues.com}

Still probably fake, I thought. But then I found these images on cloverfieldclues:

http://bp2.blogger.com/_YPCf8JFgUdI/Rz4iD44bGvI/AAAAAAAABIM/VHpB5HUWH1Q/s1600-h/pf_slide_clover5.jpg

http://bp3.blogger.com/_YPCf8JFgUdI/Rz4j_I4bG4I/AAAAAAAABJw/cFSFDBPHbzw/s1600-h/pf_slide_clover2.jpg

Which depict Marlena Diamond crying blood from her (right) eye[s], and with [Hazmat looking] doctors, as described in the above article. This second trailer also speculates on the possibility of smaller monsters, as speculated by the article, as I dont think a monster capable of ripping a chunk out of the SoL with its claw would "bite" you and you would still be alive.

The below picture is also interesting;

http://bp3.blogger.com/_YPCf8JFgUdI/Rz4iEI4bGwI/AAAAAAAABIU/T3gpsvTlEB8/s1600-h/pf_slide_clover6.jpg

Where the characters are being escorted by the military, and Marlena is certainly looking very sickly both of which are described in the article.

Anyway, I'm just throwing it out there, that maybe the scene described is actually a scene from cloverfield, and this "DJ" has somehow seen something that we haven't, a long time ago (August 30). It has some credibility.

Anyway add thoughts, etc below.

I remember seeing this too and if I remember correctly it was discussed here and a lot of people called it a hoax/fake. I wish I had the time to find the thread to see what everyone said.

Whoever it was that had the scoop, great job! Thanks!

As detailed in this post the problem with such rumors is that they get distorted and tend to include embellishments or errors of a kind that tend to raise suspicion about them. Not everything in the account you refer to has been corroborated yet, and some may prove basically false.
One reason people are willing to leak stuff to these people is that they know they are poor at keeping the information straight. If you were standing there hearing the person talk and pulled out a notepad or camera, you can expect that the juicy flow of info would probably dry up pretty quickly.

I wish I'd not followed that link, it contains info that is currently unrevealed.

Very interesting. I wonder who/what bit her. Are we talking about some sort of flesh-eating zombie plague, and she was bitten by someone that was infected. Or are we to believe that mini monsters are on the loose?

It's funny how reading that article for the first time it all sounds so surreal and hard to digest as being legit until we finally received the second trailer and it indeed has transpired (for the most part) as was written.

So...we know atleast someone in the production crew watches the boards... Has anyone ever thought that maybe they've also be siphoning ideas out of our discussions? Maybe it's not a coincidence that a line that showed up in a post a few months ago is in the movie. Maybe they thought it was a good line and decided to use it?

I guess the old IESB.net spy footage and pics were on the money as well. Looks like the triage shots were done in a shopping mall. They chopper scenes aren't too exciting, but you can see it is number 402 in the photos.

The Mall

I looks like the mall is the Santa Anita, just down the street from where I work.

I read on IMBD that the indoor shots were filmed at Downey studios, which is like walking distance from my house, you can actually see their outside sets from bellflower blvd when you drive buy, but anywho since they film that part in that area i dont see why they wouldnt use a local mall, isnt santa anita just a hop and skip down the 605 from Downey?...im a newb by the way..obvously Cool

The IESB set report says that the indoor scenes were shot at the Santa Anita mall:
Quote:
A few days ago I was picking up my sister from work and noticed movie trucks and army vehicles starting to fill the parking lot up at the Santa Anita Shopping Mall. I didn't think much of it because the mall is right next to the Santa Anita Race track and they always have some whacked out stuff going on over there so it wasn't that strange. But the next night, I saw that they started moving stuff in and out of the empty Robinsons/May building.

While I was waiting for her, I walked right into the building without anyone stopping me. I saw that they were using the actual abandoned cosmetic counters and the other stuff that just seemed to be lying around for the set. They had a bunch of computer and gurney's around. It can be described as a triage center/command center.

The helicopter scenes were obviously shot outside at Downey in front of a massive blue screen.
