Not sure if we have much concrete info to go on for Isopod, plus all the canon references point to a blend of mammalian (whale/donkey) and crustacean (crab) characteristics. But to follow up on that, a mutated cross between a whale and an Isopod is possible. The whale gives it shear size and power, while as the Isopod has creepiness and extra limbs plus a hardened carapace. Maybe rather than decide on a specific species (Isopod!), we should just say that it's crustacean-like (has multiple thin, spindly legs and a shell!)? At least until an isopod shows up on Tagruato.jp or something.

I think probaly some sort of cross between various creatures, though mainly based on a waterbear and an isopod. There were some pretty decent links for the waterbear theory.

agreed... did you read about how Isopods reproduce ?! they carry the "babys" somewhere under her shell... that kinda supports the small creature/scale raptor`s theory... also it could explain the clicking sound in the subway... so there still is a chance for smaller monsters

*edit*

In short, the message I'm talking about said that the big monster that comes into New York is scaly. The message claimed that when a scale is dislodged from the monster (if it gets blown off by shelling, for example) the scales actually turn into smaller, raptor-like creatures that run around wrecking havoc. That could be very cool if true. It was also suck completely if real.

I'd imagine that they gurgled a bit when you brought them up. The one's I've experienced have all been pickled and aren't in the position to complain much.

Im pretty much dead sure this thing isnt based on one thing, more likely its and amalgam of many creatures. I mean the guy who wrote this worked on Buffy and anyone thats ever seen it knows how often he and Joss Whedon would merge multiple creatures or species into one, and though im not familiar with everything JJ has done, it seems like thats right down his alley too

Or maybe mutant Waterbear that has been discussed in older topics?

Anyone catch the similarities between the "cute isopod" and the image in the smoke from the mirrored poster?
