What do you mean, like putting it together and animating all the static? Thus maybe it will show some words? Or just put them together and hope to see the monsters name?

It would be a total let-down if the monster(s)' name was JJ or Bob.

u can create that sort of static with ulead media studio. its really cheap effect. u would be better off checking out the flashing images frame by frame.

So erm, is anybody going to be doing this? I think this is pretty important.
I mean, we get a trailer, then a random person signs up to the forums, says they're a video editor and suggests that there may be messages in the stuff inserted in the trailer.
It's possible jjbutts here is working on Cloverfield and is hinting at something they wanted us to find but that nobody's working on.

I second Caerwiden (on jjbutts possible connection to cloverfield production and throwing us a hint). Get to work people (sorry, I don't have the software and/or skills to do it)! We might have something here.

In the credits of the vido the static coalesces into the the name of the producer, etc.. perhaps check the bits of static in other ortions of the video to see if they are scrambled words as well

in the scene, where they are turning around looking for the source of that noice....
between turning around and robs "run run run" shouting
there is a frame i can catch for eg with frame by frame or slow motion luckyness of hitting the pause button
when i try to save that one, only black screen after saving it to hdd
only this one frame, that is maybe showing what they are running away from in that tunnel....... or is it only a weir looking hazmat guy
it is between 1:42 and 1:44 of the apple site trailer
maybe somebody is able to take a screen of this scene
its really ridiculous every other frame i can save to hdd,
as a snapshot or hadcopied desktop, but not this one

Anybody tried viewing any of these strange flickers/flashes while wearing the glasses that allow you to see Beowulf in 3-d ? Might be something ?!

Here are the two bits of static on top of each other using the "difference" filter in photoshop (and then brightened up a bit).
I really don't think there are any clues in the noise in the trailer, as I'm sure it was all put there simply to enhance the "realness" of the hand held camera feel.
Seriously, so far this movie/ARG has never played the game of "secret hidden images and codes to be decoded".
This is most definitely a clues and research game. Not a riddle and code game.

Re: new vid Freaking awesome
Major major props reagan. By far one of the best cloverfield related vids ive seen. I loved the way you morphed the images over each other, phasing one in then the other. Excellent work. Have yourself a cookie, u deserve it. And have a chocolate chip one, on me.

Re: new vid
Nice effects, yes. But theres some problems with the timeline. Rob talking to the camera should be near last (with maybe only the final helicopter crash after it). The shot in the convenience store is alot earlier. the hospital scenes come after the subway chase, and the flash between the two parts of the subway chase ( a picture of rob beth lilly taken by hud) should be near the end.
And all thats off the top of my head.
These some good analysis in this thread place scenes in order via clothing/damage and logic if you want to reference them

Wow Wow Animaniac. You really do know this project. I am just sort of grabbing what is out there and taking a brief look at it. You are suggesting actually reorganizing everything. I wish I had the time...that would be very cool to see.
